Strength Training For Triathlons

Hi, I'm not looking to bulk up but rather get some more strength and more definition.

I was thinking about doing 2 or 3 full body workouts per week. Just a few questions.

> Is 3 full body workouts per week too much?

> To gain strength how many reps should I do if I want to do 3 sets per exercise?

> How many exercises should I do each session? I've got about 1.5-2 hours to do it in.

Thanks.

If you have the time to fit them in between all your endurance training I would say no. It's about where I started. Depends if you are giving yourself any recovery time in your overall program.

Strength is low rep, high weight. Read some of the Workout logs (Poos and Soaring Swine's espec) about 5x5. It's not an area I understand that well.

Depends on your focus. I was aiming to increase swim speed - so focused on shoulder and back exercises. Maybe 3-4 different excercises (can't find my old program).
