2 Guns, you're keen to give anything a go. Where do you get your info from.

Did you know that by taking Viagra it'll make all your muscles hard. Take it an hour before training. LOL

i first heard of this thru a couple that help me out and read more on interent and from a post on jsutin rhys' site from 'BLUTONZ'

so anyway i did find i got a pretty good pump from it!! wish u could inject it though would save having to drink it

Yeah there were a few posts on it here a while back which persuaded me to try it.

I got a bit of a pump I think, but I wouldn't say I was madly impressed. I can't remember how much I had per serve (50ml perhaps?), but maybe it wasn't enough. God knows how you could stomach a larger serve though. :puke:

It's not too hard to find, just make sure you are taking food grade/Human grade Glycerol - The stuff most people take is meant for soap. I have a supplier, its just a bit of an issue buying large amounts. Me and Bluto were meant to go halfs on 20L worth - I just couldn't stomach the stuff  Check out http://www.muscletalk.co.uk/ and do a search on there. Pretty amazing results, and a good amount of detail.

From what i remember, the dosage is around 1ml per kg of bodyweight, diluted in 4L of water. Chuck some flavouring in there to help cure the foul taste. This stuff works well on a cut as well, but taken with less water. My trainer uses it pre show to tighten everything up.

Marathon Runners have used it for years, I read one article where a runner was able to hold an extra 4L of water.

for anyone wanting to know..... as i had no idea what glycerol did..

Glycerol

Glycerol is a three-carbon molecule that normally serves as the backbone of a triacylglycerol molecule, which is the storage form of fat in the body. We therefore ingest a fairly large amount of glycerol (as part of dietary triacylglycerol) on a daily basis. Glycerol is also released into the bloodstream after the breakdown of fats occurs during fasting and exercise. Thus especially during exercise, when fat breakdown (lipolysis) is stimulated, we see elevated plasma glycerol concentrations.

Glycerol has been studied as an ergogenic aid for two reasons. First it was believed to be a substrate for the production of blood glucose and as such could provide a fuel during exercise. More recently, the probably more important role of glycerol became apparent. Glycerol is often advocated as a way to hyperhydrate prior to exercise in hot environmental conditions.

Glycerol As A Fuel

A few studies investigated the efficacy of glycerol as a fuel. It was found, however, that the contribution of glycerol to the overall energy expenditure is relatively small. Glycerol cannot be oxidized directly in very large amounts in the muscle. Therefore glycerol has to be converted into a glucose molecule in gluconeogenesis in the liver before it can be used as a fuel. This process is relatively slow and hence the contribution of glycerol to energy metabolism during exercise is negligible.

Glycerol As A Hyperhydrating Agent

Glycerol has also been used as a hyperhydrating agent. When ingested with a relatively large amount of water (1-2 litres) it has been found that glycerol improves water absorption and increases water retention in the extracellular space, especially in plasma. This may occur through two mechanisms. Firstly glycerol may move to the extracellular space and via osmosis draw water into this compartment. Glycerol than acts like a sponge. A second explanation is related to the effect on vasopressin or antidiuretic hormone (ADH). A small increase in the plasma osmolality may increase ADH secretion and hence urine production will be decreased.

Hyperhydration with glycerol prior to exercise has been shown to decrease overall heat stress during exercise as indicated by lower heart rate and body temperature. Although this looks promising, it must be said that there are quite a few studies in which no effect of glycerol was found on thermoregulation. In these studies the volume of water consumed (500 ml) may have been too small.

Generally however, the ingestion of 1 gram of glycerol per kg body weight with 1-2 litres of water seems to protect against heat stress and may thus have some health benefits when exercising in extreme conditions.

Does Glycerol Improve Performance?

In some studies the reduced cardiovascular stress and decreased body temperature resulted in improved exercise performance. This could not be confirmed even though those studies reported indications of improved thermoregulation. It is therefore not clear if glycerol improves endurance performance.

Side Effects Of Glycerol

Glycerol can have quite a few side effects. The most reported side effects are nausea, heartache, blurred vision, headaches, gastro-intestinal problems, dizziness, and light-headedness. Also, the large volume of fluid that needs to be consumed with the glycerol can cause some problems. Many people report a bloated feeling.

Glycerol: A Banned Substance?

Some governing bodies have placed glycerol on the list of the banned substances. The IOC banned infusion of glycerol, whilst the United States Olympic Committee banned all forms of glycerol use. Some have argued that this is misplaced because there is no proof that glycerol improves performance while at the same time it reduces heat stress when exercising in hot conditions, making exercise safer. The ban on glycerol may put athletes at risk when exercising in extremely hot conditions and because of this ban the number of heat strokes may be increased.

Hey 2G, did you notice a tightening in your condition when you used it?

I did it once on a show day and looked like shit, but I think that had more to do with my Sodium loading and not getting onstage til 5 in the afternoon.

I think the main purpose of using it is to hold excess water, thats why endurance athleate's use it, so not sure if it would be such a good idea for show day.

i draws water into yr muscles very fast, some ppl do use as part of their loading for a show as it is meant to fill the muscles with water making u tighter and fuller blah blah. i dont really know enough about it as far as using it for a show goes though.

yes i look fuller at the gym on the days i take it feeel tighter (better pump) im not very lean at the moment so i cant really comment on how it changes conidition coz im not in condition at the moment
