On it last night talking with some mates and came up with the convo about professional fighting...

They seem to think that movie actors like Jet Li..Jackie Chan would waste anyone in the whole world??? that triple front flips that hit 6 people in mid air work??? I was a bit confused as to why they thought these movies were real?? and these fighters could annihilate any competitor in the K1, UFC etc...

There argument was that they are martial artists and the best because they are so good in the movies...because in the movies they can take on 50 men? There has to be some sane people on here that know fighting and realise why they have weight classes because of the difference...and that these guys are actors  I'd rather be in a ring with Jet Li than Ray Sefo thats for sure

your right your friends are wrong, jet li,jackie chan....... bruce lee .all remarkables fighters thats for sure but there in movies because there style is very show-ponyish , the fighters in ufc are best in the world in my opinion.

i would like to see anyone try take on 20 guys with no training at all i think the 20 would still win strength in numbers

I have heard that top muay thai fighters can often beat top karate exponents because karate is quite set in specific moves and patterns, whereas muay thai uses '8' limbs or all body parts and no really set 'scenarios'. Alot of the UFC fighters are mixed martial artists and with that in mind I reckon they would win....no 'second takes' for the karate kicking movie stars lol :)

The Chan boys would get owned up.

Most UFC fighters cross-train in multiple styles, many of which have a strong practicle self-defense side. Also, most professional fighters have troubled backgrounds. The fact that they got in fights regularly is usually what leads them to fight professionally.

I take great interest in fighting, used to do kick boxing and toyed with some maa, still try to keep up to date with UFC and K1 etc, not sure what the point of this post is...

Movie stars look cool, thats about the end of it... urm... Jackie Chan is just the man because he does 90% of his own stunts which is mean, Jet Li is more amazing but more fake; harnessed camera speeds etc tampered with more..

And UFC / Pride is the best fighting in the world.

Well looks like you guys have more of the opinion... Had about 5 of them last night AND today telling me that nobody in the UFC could beat Jet Li...

I asked one to name one top professional asian fighter and he couldn't...he then tried saying that all the asians fight in there own "competitions" and are better than anyone else the world...I tried to tell him that Pride FC was one....which westeners dominated..

I just really don't understand how they could all think that Jet Li could beat anyone...I then said well Chuck Norris is good in the movies he must be the second best fighter? and he said well he'd be up there with the best...

Jackie Chan trained as a chinese opera/performer in his young days studying acrobatics martial arts etc, his roots are in performance, but ofcourse he has studied martial arts with his roles over the years...

Jet Li and Bruce Lee are the real macoy...

Jet Li is a chinese Wu Shu champion thats how he was discovered.

Bruce Lee studied Wing Chun in his young years in Hong Kong etc, went to the states and after years and years eventually came up with Jeet Kune Doo...his own martial art.

To be honest, a true martial artist in the sence I believe would rape any cage fighter.

Sure, they look good in the movies, but Bruce Lee started way back....
