Hi everyone,

I'm a 20year old Otago Uni BBiomedsci student(currently residing in Chch for the break) and have been training for about 2months straight now(after a long 2 year exercise break). I'm 1m94cm tall, weigh 80kgs, am an ectomorph and am driven to seriously bulk!

I've done a lot of reading on bodybuilding.com, but thought I might as well join this site to get some more advice and perhaps dish out some of my own :P

Hey mate, good to have you here. Biology and medical science are, obviously, hot topics here. I'm always keeping an eye out for any particularly neat studies concerning muscle growth, fat loss, strength building, even just general health... so if you come across anything you think might be of interest, feel free to let us know about it.

Thanks, and will keep an eye out

My major is in drugs and human health (mostly pharmacology, with a bit of biochem, anat, physiology etc), and generally from what I've learnt it just seems to be a matter of pairing high insulin:glucagon ratio peaks with a good amount of protein each time you eat (at least 5meals/day spaced out about 2hours) and making sure your glycogen stores aren't depleted(especially at night-low GI food & post training-high/med GI food) if you are in the bulking stages to minimise muscle protein turnover.

Do I have the general gist of things right? :P

You left out the antagonistic effects of such pernicious commodities as chocolate, chips and beer :D

Welcome

Pernicious, or simply delicious? :pfft: After all we are still human beings; and in their defence, a healthy mind is the key to a wholesome body!
