Flying to Wellington this afternoon, and will be at the weigh in tonight, the day show tomorrow and of course the night show, I'm really looking forward to doing my routine down there.

So I hope to see many of you turn out to support the cometitors, I'll be keen to meet with fellow nzbb'ers so be sure to come up and introduce yourself, and am happy to answer questions, take photos -and selling some too at a great price!

I'll be the guy kitted out in the Big Kiwi Convict Gear (of course).

Just got back.

Congrats to Richard (aka baked potato - had a green tinge last night when we were training!) and Glenn. Both of you guys looked really good.

One thing tho.... Where the hell were the freaks??? Not exactly anyone carrying much mass.

Mike looked good, nice presentation bro. Must be hard doing another comp 5 weeks after the last one.

(PS: I was the guy who was working at Les Mills when you were doing the weigh in - You looked busy tho and I needed food so didn't stop to say hello)

Yep, a great show, well done MasterTel and team.

Some great competitors, but no-one really heavy. Actually, a mens under 70 was great, lean-as and ripped.

A lot of really close competition, the womens' especially.

I think there might have been a bit of controversy there too...what happened to the womens novice tall girl, shouldn't she have come back ou for the overall since she won her class?

Mike K - awesome performance, what a showman - and as for the cheeky woman who won a prize draw, and copped a feel while collecting the prize! Just an occupational hazard, eh!

[Pix to follow when film gets back]

All in all, a great day, major kudos to all the competitors!

As TFB said, well organised show by Mastertel once again. The number of competitors was a bit on the light side but completely understandable this time of year.

Diamond you looked MMMMEEEEEAAAANNNN!! You got your timing right and it's the best condition I've seen you in, you had the hardest looking legs in the show!

As for the novice tall girl not being in the overalls, perhaps she didn't want to go into the overall line-up? It's optional I believe, not compulsory. Sometimes people choose not to go into an overall line-up....who knows what her reasons were, just hope she doesn't regret passing up the opportunity.

Thanks for those comments, guys! It was a smaller than expected turnout (26 competitors) but I thought the quality and attitude of those competing was excellent! In particular the conditioning of most competitors was outstanding - especially for an event at this time of year. Diamond was in awesome shape, getting many complimentary comments and he must have been close to picking up the overall title.

IFBB Pro Mike Kingsnorth was the star of the night and provided a huge boost to the event with a breathtaking 6min 23sec routine, an insightful and articulate 10 minute on-stage interview and interacting wonderfully with everyone at the show. He also kept me out partying until after 5am the next morning! Thanks, big fella - it will be a privilege to have you guest pose again next year, and your room downstairs at my place is all ready for you!!

For some reason I was busier and a bit more stressed at this show than other larger ones that I have organised. The amount of work that goes into a show for everyone is pretty much the same regardless of how many competitors there are. Someone suggested if I had competed at this event as well as organising it, I might have been less stressed! :D

Regarding competitors not contesting the overalls - Manu is spot on. It is not compulsory for a competitor to be in the overall lineup - many competitors choose not to for a variety of reasons.

Here are the results from the event - congratulations to the 26 competitors, all of whom have qualified for the 2008 NZFBB NZ Nationals on Oct 18:

Sounds like it was a great event,

I am extreemly disapointed that I was not able to make it.

I work for my self and 6 weeks out I got a major contract that I have only just completed, so I had to postpone for a comp later in the year (still been training hard) :( I have held the weight loss I achieved in the 6 weeks I dieted yet increased my strength so should be in a great position at the start of my next diet to come in in good shape.

Managed to tear my calf muscle 10 days ago as well so it would have been interesting limping around stage if I had been there...

I am even more determined to make it down next year!

One suggestion for the next comp.

Put some freakin signs up!!! It took me and a couple of mates 45 minutes of walking around the campus to find the pre judging theatre!! I can only imagine how many others didn't make it due to getting lost... I missed the morning show because we were too late. No hard feelings but was a waste of time getting up early (had been out all night ) to make it to the prejudging in the morning.

Just some arrows or some posters would of helped. :)

That's a shame you had trouble, SamWelly, but you're the first person in 4 years of having our events there that has said they had trouble finding the venue. The poster at your gym (the major sponsor) says the entry is via Gate 1 which takes you straight to the Student Union building where the theate is.

There are always plenty of students around who will know where the theatre is, so asking one of them might have saved you 40 minutes of walking around.

not too hard dieting, cardio on the other hand was doing it tough, but it got done.

Next time, introduce yourself, I'm never to busy to say hi.

thanks, but she was just checking the fabric of my posing brief? :^o

Well firstly, thank you for having me Terry, and I think it's fair to say it was a huge night after and the blame can be squarely laid on the shoulders of one Mr NZ/Captain Splits/Sergent Dance Fever/The Tequila Kid, Mr Mike DEBENHAM!!!!!!

or at the very least NZ Muscle Monster who we met at about 4am, and true to his word-I am serious- standing next to me in a short sleeved dress shirt, and a girl comes up to him and complements him on and gropes his arms- the man is a magnet!!!!!!!

He of course just blew it off as another day at the office, which only made it more appealing to her.

as to the show, congrats to the competitors, that was a great lineup for so early in the year, overall could have gone three ways. the gauntlet has seriously been thrown down for the masters and udner 70s at the nationals in my opinion!

now to all who have posted about how the fed can do better etc, you guys need to see first hand the workload Terry took on here, just to promote the sport with margins pretty low and no fee for him, day and night tirelessly, organising everything, weigh ins, prizes, tropheys, music, staff, food, tickets, even putting together the little official badges and was up til late on friday up at about 6 on saturday, and no break between day and night shows as the theatre needed reprepping....stuff going on you don't see and after 18 years at it, I didnt even know about.

Big pat on the back for the big guy from ALL bodybuilding fans, and that goes from me to ALL promotors of BOTH federations, without you=no sport!

Hey bud, sorry - but I bumped into 2 other groups of people who couldn't find the pre judging either - I also asked 5 students who didn't know where it was held.

Show was great, was just disapointed to miss the prejudging. It either makes me a complete idiot, or the signage inadequate. I am never going to agree with the first option  :pfft:

You may not have had any other feed back from others not being able to find the show as they gave up trying to find the place before we did... I am pretty sure the others that were looking didn't find it either as we saw them heading back to their car...

Glad you liked the photos.

Hahaha! I had to give her the flick, how often do I get to have a chat with a Pro Bodybuilder!!!

And what she actually said when she grabbed my arms was "Dam man, these things are pathetic... You look anorexic next to that big dude!!"

Are you going to be back down for the Nationals later in the year?? I didn't get to see you do your thing at the show, so will we have the chance to see a monsterous MichealK come October??
