Very good question, diamond!

The date for the event is confirmed - April 12th at Memorial Theatre, Victoria University.

This date is a bit earlier than last year - partly to assist a team from New Plymouth preparing for an IFBB event in Hawaii on April 19th, and also to give those competitors competing in the Elite event in March to have another comp to aim for just 4 weeks later.

If anyone has any questions or suggestions about this event, please feel free to let me know.

yeah D.Dog has got a quality physique so it's good to be up against him.

what about you manu ? when are you going to hit the stage again

I remember that class last year at the Wgtn Champs. The judges sure put you guys through your paces at the pre-judging!!

As for me, I'm just trying to put some more mass on at the moment. Probably aim to compete later in the year as I'm enjoying the minimal cardio and licorice allsorts lol

Good to see a few of you are considering competing at this event!

Something I tried last year which seemed to work well was condensing the two sessions i.e. start the pre-judging at 11am and the finals at 5pm (instead of the usual 10am and 6pm start times). I did this for the North Island Champs in Masterton to accommodate the anticipated large number of competitors and spectators making a day trip from Wellington, Hutt Valley, Manawatu, Wanganui etc. It gave everyone an extra hour to prepare / sleep in on the Saturday morning, plus meant people could hit the pub or head home earlier after the night show. It also meant less time between the two sessions which suited those on a day trip and not having a motel room to relax in.

I plan to do the same for this year's regional events in Wellington and Masterton - plus start the finals for Nationals at 4pm instead of 5pm as per the 2007 event in Auckland. What do people think? Any other suggestions or comments?

As always it's impossible to tell how many people will turn up to compete, but the interest so far is on a par with last year when we had 37 competitors. These early shows are always hard to predict, especially as many regular competitors wait until later in the year to qualify for then compete at Nationals.

At a guess I would say between 35 and 40, but hopefully more!
