Maybe I'm just miffed that my name didn't make the top 30, but I cannot believe there are more Lachlans, Calebs, Jaydens, and Noahs (Noah?! FFS! What were the parents thinking?!) than there are Andrews, Adams, Michaels or Tims.

It seems like every parent wants their kid to have a name that's unique, but in their quest for something different and obscure, they all end up choosing the same names anyway.

Lachlans and Tylers are a dime a dozen. You want your ankle-biter to be unique? Call him David or John. :P

Did anyone notice the proliferation (big word that one) of Shortland St names....Hunter and Sophie especially?

Aaah, and now that Maia has left Shorty St, the name is dropping in popularity.

These names are just going with the times. Look at the names of our grandparents. Don't see a lot of 'Ethels' and 'Arthurs' around these days. Two of my three kids names are in those lists, so I guess I'm one of the non-original people in this country
