Hidetada Yamagishi Arrested, Japan Pro show cancelled.

Pro Bodybuilder Hide Yamagishi was arrested on the 27th of December, and remains in custody. Apparently he was in posession of 'drugs' on an international flight from Japan to the USA and arrested in Los Angeles.

Then, a couple of days later, the Japan Pro Show was cancelled. This means that there are only seven pro shows this year including the Olympia, making 2008 one of the lightest years for some time for the pros.

What I want to know is, why would someone (5 foot 6 and 220 pounds) who looks so obvious carry the drugs on an international flight....are they that stupid or naive? There is absolutely no justfication to think you'll get away with trafficking.

Maybe he had a bunk prescription for it and went down that way? There aren't enough details yet?

Taken from another board:

"Yesterday morning Saturday, Dec 29th at 7am, a friend of the Flex family went to go visit Hide for the 1st time since his arrest on Dec 8th.

Hide was in surprisingly good mood and spirits. He looks good and he said he is really happy about all the support he has been getting from various people incuding the jail guards. Many are bodybuilding fans and of course know who he is, they have been bringing bodybuilding mags for him to sign on a regular basis, so even in there, Hide is a star. LOL!!

He has been buying tuna cans and hard boil eggs to stay on his diet and he has been doing push ups, sit ups and pull ups with his own bodyweight to sort of keep up with the workouts a little.

Right now he has attorneys helping him out through all this so he's not alone (which is very important, I'm sure you can imagine). The fact that a lot of people think about him and support him in this time of needs really makes him happy.

He is awaiting his 1st trial appearance on Jan 8th, 2008.

That's all we have at this point but keep checking FlexOnline often as we'll update you on the latest developments.

Stay strong Hide.

The Flex Team "

From another website....this guy is in the shit BIGTIME:

"IFBB Pro Bodybuilder Hidetada Yamagishi was formally charged today in Los Angeles Superior Court with nine counts of steroid possession and distribution including five counts of "possession or purchase of controlled substance;" one count of "transport of controlled substance into state for sale;" and three counts of "possession of a prescription drug without a prescription." His next court date will be on January 23, 2007. He will remain incarcerated at North County Correctional Facility until then under U.S. immigration hold on $180,000 bail.........."

I repeat, if you are a pro bodybuilder, why would you deal in steroids and drugs looking like you do? It's not rocket science that if you stick out like dogs balls cos you have 20" arms, the customs people aren't going to look and think 'I wonder if he's carrying any gear'?

Fools. The whale that swims to the surface gets harpooned. Pretty simple really.

There is if you think outside the box (perhaps Alias lives in the box...and it doesn't even have windows so he can't see the potential? :pfft: ) it's about how you utilize your marketing. Not just getting paid to Pose, although I have done that many many times, but money through endorsements, advertising, contest preparation and tuition- all of which I have recieved money for as a bodybuilder.

If you mean make money from competing, well obviously as an amateur up until now we have been unable to be paid (although with the Elite class competitors there is prize money available), and factoring in the cost of tan, extra food, music editing, travel expenses, registration, supps and gym fees- then directly through competitve bodybuilding there has been no money, but I have leveraged off my sucess to make some hay while the sun was shining.

I know a few people who make a living off it in NZ directly and indirectly through their successes, for some of us it's merely a supplemental income.
