Just wondering if anyone else finds it hard to work out what you need to compete in and when and how when it comes time to plan and make a decision to enter a show, like what show do ineed to compete in first and when is it kind of thing, i find the websites quite hard to understand and work out - any ideas for a first timer from auckland or where to go?

Thanks heaps

happy new year to all

you dont have to get out of it - to get into it.

Well, I'm 26 a podiatrist have previously always been overweight as a result of injury, and now finding it pretty easy to gain muscle and also fat - so your typical endomorph. Play football and live in the mighty west auckland, i want to go as far as possible into the world of bodybuilding, anything else specific just ask.

living in Waitak' you'll want to go for the aucklands. these are roughly in the middle of the year, so you have upto 6 months for the prep. the time to make a desision is now. if you make the choice you will need to commit all the way to the end. if the commitment is there you will do what ever it takes to suceed. try the NZFBB, if natural, go for the novice with what ever weight category you are.

Get a bf% to work out your lean mass. you want to come in at <5% bf for the comp. design a weight loss and training plan that will achieve this. Talk to a PT that has done a show before for guidance. Talk to a sport dietician (rainbow) to help with this target.

Train hard, do cardio, remember to stretch. Inform family, firends that you will be a grumpy arse for the next 6 months, and that your eating has changed to suit. And good luck-

or u can still be natural and do nabba, imo id recommend to u nabba for a first comp. alot more relaxed friendly helpful environment and everyones treated equal in the nabba federation

I'd have to second that. I hated my first comp (NZFBB) - competed NABBA after that. Far better crew.

tru so you guys think to go nabba first, even for natural?? im in same boat ( as far as going to compete this yr for first time too) i just thought id be shamed hard next to big as fullas on gear in nabba??

all im saying is imo nabba has a better atmosphere as far as shows go, but wat type of body u have should probably determine wat federation u choose to compete for.

and pffft.. without getting into exact numbers id say there are just as many gear users in nzfbb as ther are in nabba... where does this idea ppl have bout nzfbb being all natural?? its a joke of an idea

I have never done a nabba show but really enjoyed the Wellington and Taranaki NZFBB shows everyone was extremely friendly and made the whole process a real blast - I hated the nationals though but that is just the nature of that comp.

I think the big thing for a first comp is finding someone to compete along side - a group of people is even better.

One good thing about this site is that when you turn up to a comp you are bound to bump into some you know from here.
