Bold goals

So I've decided to set myself some goals to reach by mid way through next year (01/07/2008). I've been hitting the gym for a month now and have made some decent gains.

What do you guys think about them. Too outlandish? Not big enough? Too out of proportion (with regards to the other exercises)? Any feedback is appreciated.

*One rep goal/equivalent 5 rep goal/what I did today* (bear in mind I wasn't really pushing myself today as I didn't have a spotter, so could do a bit more than what I've listed.

Squat:

160/142.5/90x5

Bench:

100/90/50x5

Deadlift:

170/150/ N/A - didn't do them today, but I think I did 90x8 a wee while back

Barbell curl:

45X8 (goal)/27.5x10 (today)

(Yes I am a weak baby :shifty: )

Holidays are very annoying. For the first time in my life I've been dying to get to the gym all the time and I freaking can't! My gym's closed to the 3rd and the ones that are open cost $20-25 for casual rates!

Anyone know any cheap places in Wellington?

ask them if that if u go everyday can they do a deal for u.

i did this when i was at the mount (global fitness) good people there and good gym! so anyway think it ws $15 for a casual and i was ther for 7 days so think they let me use their gym for $7 a time instead of 15

if u are not just going for a 'casual' which means a one off then tell them and they should eb able to sort u out if they are decent

I'm not entirely sure at the moment. Once again the internet has provided me with a vaste range of conflicting, confusing and convoluted advice. I read one article promoting a full body workout - it sounded convincing. I read an article advising a split routine - equally convincing. And don't get me started on reps! Some advise 8-12 for beginners, while others say dive straight to 5x5.

Anywho, I'm leaning more towards a 5x5 sort of routine. But in terms of exercise when do to the exercises and in what order I'm still up in the air.

Perhaps someone could give me some advice on that too  . My work and uni timetables should allow me to go every day of the week if I wanted(which of course I'm not).

yea they look alright i guess. no shoulder work though guess that gets covered in some of the compound exercises though

so your wanting to get into powerlifting ?? as those programs are focused a lot more towards powerlifting than bodybuilding.

never really tryd the 5x5 appoach but be interested to see how it works.

you should start a training journal to track progress!!

Yes I will definately be doing some shoulder exercises, whichever routine I choose. I started going to the gym to look better, but keep going back to lift more. As someone else on this board said, I class myself as a "power-builder". And yes, I think I will start a training journal once I start my routine properly.

Anyone else have any comments/advice?
