hey all i'm new to the forum (but not to bodybuilding :P)

gym membership expired a few weeks back. don't really wanna go back to the gym but I'm keen to setup my own home gym of sorts.

I'm trying to first of all buy a chin up / pull up bar but have had NO LUCK finding somewhere to sell them.

I want a wall mountable one not a door one. Does anyone have any idea where I can buy one?

Also any tips on what other equipment is good to buy to start doing home gym. I was thinking that pullup bar and also a bench & dumbells too for starters

(auckland btw)

ps: I wanna buy a bar like this:

cheers guys I'll consider that as an alternative, though... I would prefer getting one ready made if possible!

Btw is there any chance of finding something like this in auckland/nz

(perfect pushup)

Is there any fitness retailer more comprehensive than Elite Fitness? Cause even they don't have pullup bars

Welcome Johnny. In case you're interested, I remember seeing this doodacky kmart used to sell.. a 4-in-1 kinda deal that looked something like this:

pullUpBar-1.jpg

- pullup bar ('cept their one was at the back, not the front like this pic)

- captains chair

- push up handles

- bars for tri dips

It was $250 the last time I saw them in the store, which was earlier this year.. not sure how much they are now though.

hey mate thanks for the response.

that actually looks like a better investment than a pullup bar alone indeed.

but is it stable? It won't fallover or anything?

and how easy would it be to do pullups on that, would any of the other bars get in the way etc.

K Mart you said? I'm in north shore / auckland so I think the closest k mart to me is in henderson.. unless there's one in that new albany mall

do you think Rebel sport or the likes may have them ?

OK, this is the pic of the actual thing:

The pullup bar's at the back, so the other bars and stuff wouldn't get in the way. When I saw it in the store it looked pretty stable, and my partner had a go on the pullup bar at the time (as males do ) and he weighs about 110kgs.. so it holds up pretty well.

The ones we saw were at the Manukau Kmart, but I'm pretty sure all the stores would hold them :shifty: I'd give them a call before you pop in though to be sure. And I'm pretty sure there's a Kmart store at Westfield Albany. I'm not sure about Rebel Sport though.. might be worth the trip just to check it out.

cool man sounds good. Looks like the best thing to get to start home gym aside from bench / dumbells.

speaking of which, wheres the best place on the north shore / city to buy one of those benches that can also be adjusted to add incline?

my university gym has one so yeah would be good to get one of those too.

i wonder if kmart has that too
