The so called natural gyno I have seen -and plenty of it -has all been caused through life style... excessive and habitual alcohol consumption. Every office in the world I have worked in - and I have lived in 6 countries.

However, never seen a healthy male with so called 'natural gyno" though!

I can't agree with you on the notion of so called "natural gyno"; seems a contradiciton in terms.

There is no contradiction in terms what-so-ever here, if a kid has "naturally" high levels and develops gyno then its natural, simple as that.

We are defining natural as not using AAS in this instance anyway so it doesn't matter.

And if the mer mention of the word "nipple" makes you giggle like a little school giri then maby you should retract yourself from this descution as it is clearly to much excitement for you to handle.

A few more facts and figures...

Turns out I had remembered correctly - 50% of adolescent males have detectable levels of gynecomastia. Only around 5% will notice though, and only 1% will require corrective treatment, I'm told.

I also found the UK study I was talking about earlier. Here's an article by USA Today that summarises it.

13 of 52 supplements tested between July 2006 and January 2007 at a British lab had small amounts of steroids banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency and all major sports leagues.
The highest incidence of contamination appeared to be in the “testosterone booster” product category type – 6 of the 9 products in this category (including product “stacks” which contained a testosterone booster component) contained steroid and/or stimulants as contaminants. This is equivalent to 67%.

The question is, how much was a "small amount" and could it contribute to the development of gyno?

If anyone's interested, I've attached the full report as a PDF document.

hmm yea makes you wonder just what else they are putting in there. people use those products as a safer alternative to steroids but if they are going to cause the side effects anyway then why bother using inferior products ??

Good point

  • 6 months later...

a fantastic discussion. funny now i know i'm not the only one. did some methoxy, and trib etc. a few years ago and developed a small amount of gyno. and witht he growth, from eating and heavy lifting etc that i am getting at the moment it is flaring up. rather painfull. am rather nervous about seeing a doc though as it would be assumed the gear is on the cards. and the cost of getting it removed via surgery is rather daunting. mioght see what i can find with that lepto... stuff to see if i can reverseit

If you've got surgical insurance, and the gyno is painful, then surgery may be covered. You'd just need to get your doc to write a letter recommending it as the best course of treatment.

Surgery's no magic bullet though - ultimately hacking it out is a pretty crude way of fixing the problem, no matter how skilled the surgeon is. Give letrozole a try first. At the very least it will halt the development of further gyno, and it may just reverse it.

EDIT: Talk to an endocrinologist first though. Letrozole may cause a temporary rebound effect on your estrogen levels when you come off it, which is the last thing you want, so you may need to follow it with a SERM such as Nolvadex.

Had a mate with naturally occuring gyno in teen years, very embarrassing for him, thankfully it was a temporary thing, they still protude a bit when he runs about with no top on but not really noticeable.

Another mate unfortunatley did not go and got worse. And again worse still through Steroid use. He got his gyno removed.

I've seen how it effects guys mentally and physically, not good at all.

Did the Letro work for you Pseudo?

Umm, I think so. After the first attempt with conservative doses (half a 2.5mg tab every day for 30 days), I thought there were some signs of improvement. After a period of time off, I went back and did another 30-day course at the full 2.5mg dose.

I think the gyno has now mostly gone, although it's hard to say for sure (there wasn't a huge amount left after surgery anyway). There is still a small lump behind one side, but that's likely scar tissue from the op and only visible on very critical self-inspection. :P
