recipe for pure Energy needed.

some of you guys that have been in the game long enough, must know some good ways of getting a pure energy rush leading into a heavy workout.

I use the effervescent creatine, but sometimes that wont cut it on its own.

I wonna be hopped up ready to explode.

I have sometimes tried a couple no dose pills which kind of work but just leave me feeling crap later.

As with too much coffee.

Im not ashamed to say that a long time ago I tried a herbal energy party pill which really made my workout awesome, but as I recall just ended up making me feel crook and I couldn't sleep or eat for almost two days.

what else can I try to boost my serotonin levels and endorphins without depriving myself of much needed sleep after a long night shift.

(I know a lot of you my say sleep more, but that is not an option for me at this stage, without missing out on my training).

I'm not much of a coffee drinker, so I'm probably more sensitive to caffeine than most, but here's what works for me...

1 heaped teaspoon of instant coffee.

That's it. No need to add water - just have it dry. The sharply foul taste probably wakes me up just as much as the caffeine does. The culinary equivalent of powerlifters sniffing ammonia to shock them awake before a big lift.

All right, you can chase it down with a glass of water if you must. Sissy. :pfft:

Follow that with a heaped teaspoon of brown sugar. Mmmmmm... Of course, this is strictly for the sugar hit, and not at all for the taste. Honest.

I save that just for the days where I'm nearly asleep even before I hit the gym. Seems to do the trick.

P, or Coke I reccon! :pfft:

Seriously dude do you really need something to get you through your workout?

Stimulants will only end up burning out your CNS if you rely on them.

If you have to use something try "Surge" by Biotest

yup been trying bsn no-explode lately and it really fires you up for the gym... the further you get into your workout the more awake you feel and the more you wanna lift. only thing wrong with it is the price....

cheaper thing to do would be as Pseudonym said with the instant coffee wakeup and just take some creatine mono - basically the same thing.

sleep more and eat more, u will have enough energy then

I know this is a sore you just cant help yourself picking at.

I cant do much about the sleep

However I have been taking 1 extra day off training dedicated to sleeping in.

I may go 2 on, 1 off in that fashion in an effort to increase my rest.

I have began to eat more, using oatmeal and musashi bulk shakes throughout the night on top of at least one big decent meal a night.

I gonna try getting some of this NO-explode, sounds like the shit.

Why dont some like to use supps?

is it becos of poss physical dependency on it, or do they have other sinister side effects?

Meh No Xplode is overhyped. It has its uses but it dosn't work miracles. It's just a stim. As has been said its good for after a rare crappy nights sleep.

Keep your carbs and protein up as much as possible. That will give you energy to workout and energy for your body to use that protein to recover more than anything else.

Sleep is definately important if you are overly tired thrashing your body at the gym probably wont yield very good results.

Some people develop mental dependancies on them but thats pretty bullshit. I took the stuff for a while and actually enjoyed coming of it.

Oh maybe try taking a ZMA supp before bed. That can help improve sleep quality. Usually gives you good dreams to, like flying around and shit.

no stuff like ephedrine and caffeine at the right dose is all good to take if u want a real boost!! if u are not getting ready for a comp its good just to take every now and then like if u feel abit lazy before a leg workout for example

but when i came off it even after being on for quite a while i didnt have withdrawl symptoms lol or feel like shit, just eat right and sleep right and u can have all the energy u need (sure everyone has shit days but its not normal to always have no energy)

and there is a difference between not being arsed to train and having not eaten enough to train, work out wat u are and then its easy to fix

I see your point.

i find for some reason I have a lot more strength and energy to train in the mornings after a long night shift then after 6 hours sleep in the afternoons.

I cant really explain why this is exactly.

I fall asleep around 0800 then wake around 1400, I dont use alarm clocks so if my body is exhausted and I sleep longer I just figure my body needed it. but becos of this I no longer relay on training in the afternoons before work.

However if Im lucky enough to get a couple days off I'll spend a good part of that time sleeping.

Its been hell lately cos we are short staffed and I'm doing 7-8 days on and only get 1-2 days off.

I am starting to learn tho which foods (carbs) give me energy and which ones personally tire me out, like meat products, possibly due to the fat content in the meats and dairy. which I suspect is partly due to the possibility that my digestive system is in fact designed to slow during what would normally be sleeping/fasting hours.

So whole grains and things of the like are lite and provide sustainable energy to keep me functioning during this slow digestion period.

I dont know just a theory at the mo, but something I am trying to figure out.

If you are often tired is it is a real posiblity that your "carb sensitive" and may do much better on a high fat/protein diet with low carbs and the carbs you eat should be as close to there natural form as posable.

Try for a couple of weeks eating, mainly red meat, chicken, fatty fish, eggs etc, and natural nuts, peanut butter, avocado, flax seed and fish oil (@ 12+gm of each), lots of fiberous veg and a LITTLE oat meal and potato/kumera.

See what sort of benefit you gain

30-40gs protein shake mix with water and half a sachet of raro. Works a treat. Drink half before your workout then top the drink up with more water a sip the rest during the workout. Aim to finish the drink before your last exercise.

And if you want more of a high just peel back a black instant coffee 20mins before your workout. This should give you a kick before your workout!
