If this happened in the States all three would most likley have been shot by the police in the raids, they should count themselfs lucky.

If the evidence that was leaked is true, people possibly would've been more understanding of that than the wide scale raids that happened. We're not talking about three people getting raided, we're talking people over a radius of a few hundred kilometres with very vague links if any existed at all to the accused.

And in my mind theres no such thing as a " minor fire arms charge" If your not gona use firearms responsibly you dont have the right to have one in your possession.

I would be willing to bet many here would've sympathised with the gun shop employee who shot the guy with the machete in his shop with a firearm that was unlicensed.

Possessing an unlicensed firearm would be a minor firearm charge to me in comparison to say, shooting someone with one.

There is no comparison between someone using a firearm in self deffence and someone making a menace of them self or endangering the public.

I'm not comparing, simply pointing out a case many would accept as being minor, since you said there was no such thing as a minor firearm charge.

The self defence wasn't even the issue in the charge.

I can't speak for others but I would still not accept that as being minor, don't get me wrong I love to hunt, but I do see a need for some form of control over those who act carelessly or with out regard for safety.
