Been doing full time theology study, now I'm starting a job as a part time youth pastor and continuing the study (few less academic papers though) next year.

Cool - I am involved will a church here in the Naki. My Dad was the pastor until he died of cancer just before his 60th birthday. I run the youth group it is a challenge but very rewarding at times.

.

Word. Yeah I agree teen ministry can be incredibley tough, have to be very patient and forgiving. But, at the same time you can't just let them walk all over you and abuse your time. Personally, parents can be the biggest challenge, particularly the ones with money, shipping their kids off to you to babysit and make up for their lack of parenting skills!

Nothing else I'd rather do at present though.

Sorry to hear of your loss mate.

Im saying if you are a white male and want to get into Chch there is a very long wait. Therefore as Dragonlar is just that, its probably a good idea to head to Auckland if you want to get in quick

is ther to many white cops in chch?

funny that my samoan mate was transferred to auckland cos hed be better at relating with 'black' offenders etc.

kinda contradicts ya theory huh :)

I dont know the exact makeup of the NZ Police. All I can tell you is that Maori, Chinese, Females etc etc are all under represented and thus are more likely to move through the recruiting process quicker.

Dont ask me exactly how recruiting works it all out, its not my field.

I'm a 111 emergency operator. We screen the calls and flick them through to the services.

Some of the stuff I hear...you couldn't pay me enough to be a police officer. I wouldn't last one shift. Much respect to you Lat. Dorsi 8)

i somehow doubt just because you are of an ethic/racial/gender minority you are going to be fasttracked through recruitment. 1 in 100 applicants apparently get recruited into the police, and your telling me, for example; of a maori male and a pakeha male of same stature, the maori will get 'special treatment'?

however the ethnic makeup of the nz police could be somewhat representative of the NZ jail population [56% inmates are maori]

Is that not they way that many things work in this country?

And I believe that the % of Maori inmates better represents the % of Maori offenders rather than the racial makeup of the police force
