Hows it going? My names Kaz, and yes, I'm pretty damn lanky, and it's time to do something about it(6' 5" and 72kgs doesn't equate to much muscle mass).

I've been playing around with a barbell and 2 dumbells that I've got at home, for around the last year, not much much has happened, I mean I've bulked up in the tiniest degree, but nothing else. So I asked my parents for a weight lifting book for my 17th birthday, (which was yesterday by the way :P) and apparently people with my bodytype have to do lots of high intensity, with less freqency, workouts with squats, deadlifts, pullups and the like rather than doing just certian muscle groups at a time. Awesome. There's nothing I like more then doing squats.

Oh yeah and eating heaps but I guess anyone can figure that out. Anyway I hope this place can help out and it seems pretty cool.

Hey Lank. Good to have you here. In this sport it pays to be a little sceptical of everything you read. I don't have much faith in the "this workout for this bodytype" argument. I think it varies from person to person, and what doesn't work for you now may be the very routine you need next year. It's just a matter of trial and error.

I guess my advice is to follow this book's instructions, but don't treat it as the gospel truth. Give something else a try a bit later, just to see what happens. :)

Woah strong bump.

Can't say my progress has been that great over the last couple of years but now I'm about 86kg and I've been training at Eastside Barbell down in christchurch for the last couple of months. Going to do my first powerlifting meet in a week. Hoping to get a 100kg bench, 120kg squat and 150kg deadlift.
