NABBA Nationals

Congratulations, Dragonlor - despite the :( in your post that's a great result (2nd out of 11).

At least our class at the NZFBB Nationals this weekend will definitely be smaller (only 9 people have qualified for it) - good luck with your prep and I'll see you in Auckland! My money is on either you or Keri Onyewu winning it.

I saw the pic of Mark Anderson on the gofigure site - very impressive!!

I think Keri has qualified in the under 80kg physique. I believe he hasn't competed in the classic class this year. Or can you chop and change classes now?

That's correct, waldo - you can only compete in the class you qualify in. Keri Onyewu and Willie Walker were 1st and 2nd respectively in the Classic Mens class at the Australasian Champs earlier this year - this is also a qualifier for the NZFBB Nationals.

Both Keri (Open) and Willie (Masters Over 40) have qualified in more than one class, so they can choose which one they want to do (assuming they are competing at Nationals).

So, any chance of you changing your mind and joining us on stage this Saturday?

Well, seeing as I'm around 13kg heavier than when I weighed in at the North Islands, probably not. Still got abs though (just). Me and the powers that be have started planning the 2008 campaign however.

Looks like it will be CNIs and Nationals, unless I turn up on the day at the Aucklands and do a ratchet qualifying effort on no dieting!

Well, I'm guessing the extra 13kg is not all muscle?! Hey - make sure you hide all that "diet" food of yours from Sup until at least Sunday!

Probably best to wait until at the least the Taranaki show in two weeks time if you want to qualify for the 2008 Nationals. The only people who automatically qualify from a Nationals for next year's event are the Overall winners.

any idea on how many could be in the novice mens 80 to 90 kg, this weekend?

should be a big class ed . i'm guessing around ten guys, maybe more. Have been pretty good numbers in that class the whole year. i remember just at one show ( auckland champs ) there were about 8 guys in it.

I thought it would be big but it is hard to tell from the regional comps as they were all novice 80kg and over so a lot could fall in the 90 and over - I am pretty sure both the other guys in my class in wellington were over 90kg so they would likely be in the next class up.

yeah i was there, competed in novice athletic tall and got 2nd :( . I think our class was the biggest of the night with 11 people in it. The open physique guys were impressive

The guy that beat you looked pretty bloody good.He has competed before as well I remember him from the Nats last year under 70 novice.

people stayed to the end not like NZFBB where they leave before the end.

Always MR Positive Alan, I'm sure noone has ever left a NABBA show early before!

Every show is a little hit or miss by competitor standards- depends on who turns up and how good, NZFBB have their great nights as do NABBA.

Could be the quality of the competition, could be the venue, the quality of the organization of the show or township and how they embraced the show.

I've seen NZFBB shows pack out the Aotea centre for a North Islands comp right to the end of the night myself.

At least we agree on the most important thing, Mark looked spectacular, and we should be giving well deserved credit where it's due to the Champ!!
