Competition Week

Well it's now getting very close to my first competition and the figure is starting to look very lean. I'm just curious about the last week and how to get that tight muscular look without severely hydrating and feeling almost hungover.

I have in my possession NFS Ultra Definition which I intend to try this week and then if they work I will use them for the competition. From what I understand I take these on my deplete days and still keep my water intake around 4-5l per day. Then on the load days I stop taking them and water is sip only.

The part where I get confused is when to limit sodium and potassium and when to increase either of them.

Can someone enlighten me? I think it's limiting sodium while I deplete while increasing potassium and then the opposite for the day or so before the comp?

Yup, you'd be best to go through my journal - it'll be more accurate than me trying to remember what happened back then. :P

I kept it pretty basic - other than the UltraDef, I didn't do much. I cut out salt (can't remember exactly when, see my journal...) which meant no packaged/processed foods at all. I was amazed - even a jar of crushed garlic had salt added. So - nothing that comes in a can, jar or packet.

I didn't do anything for potassium (I think the UltaDef has it anyway), but I did find my calf muscles started to cramp slightly doing the posing round, so next time I might add a banana, or banana chips.

I read a very detailed article on pre-comp techniques a while back, so I'll try to track it down for you. Don't let it confuse you (I went with my trainer's advice rather than its), but it's another resource to consider. :)

[EDIT]

So how much longer have you got?

I compete in WLG on 07 May, so only 17 days after today and counting!

I'm actually excited about it, but I think it's just exciting to know that I will be able to start eating properly again and won't have to get to the gym twice every day!

I think you're right on the potassium so I'll just cut out the salt and I'll double check on your journal when to do this.

Thanks heaps....

I'll definitely put some competition day pics up during the week after. I'll be happy just to make it through the experience!
