nzdf army 2.4km run anyone know any more about it

so I've got my 2.4 km run for induction day in 11 days and getting back to the same level of fitness that I was at before covid lockdown is proving very difficult I need to be able to run 2.4km in 12 mins but i can only get to 12 min 30secs if I run this on induction day will they can me and not send me to basic or will they send me off regardless also don't wanna be one of the unfit fatties there that gets nailed for being slow

Should have kept training during lockdown bro. Otherwise pull a sickie and reschedule it. There isn’t a good reason to fail a fitness test in application for something. You knew it was happening so why aren’t you prepared, makes you look fucking hopeless to be blunt. Good luck.

Hey dude don't worry about it too much. 

 

I've seen people completely f*ck the entry level run up and still get on a basic. 

 

However, being as fit as possible makes you a more attractive candidate to recruiters. So if you nail the fitness and cognitive tests then you'll have a better chance of getting the trade you want in a quicker time. 

 

The real test that matters is the RFL and CFT toward the end of the 16 week basic training. So if you're fit when you go, you're gonna have an easier go of it. 

 

My advice is to get as fit as possible prior to shipping off. It's one less thing to worry about. 

You're gonna be stressed and tired on basic. The less stressed you are about fitness then the more mental capacity you're gonna have for learning your weapons drills and potentially helping your other section members with their shit when they're lagging.
