NZFBB North Island Champs - Sept 15

Recommended Posts

When: Saturday, September 15

Where: Masterton Town Hall, Masterton, Wairarapa

This prestigious late-season event for the lower North Island, traditionally held in Wellington, will be contested in Masterton for the first time.

As one of the final qualifiers for the 2007 NZFBB Nationals to be held in Auckland in October, this event is expected to attract between 60 and 90 competitors from all parts of NZ.

Please note that the start times for each session (11am for pre-judging and 5pm for finals) differ from the regular 10am and 6pm times to allow both competitors and spectators from surrounding areas like Wellington, Hutt Valley, Manawatu and Wanganui more time to travel to and from the event. It also ensures that the night show will be concluded in plenty of time for those eager to watch the All Blacks v Portugal Rugby World Cup match scheduled to kick off at 11pm Saturday night!

Just a reminder to everyone about this event in just over 2 weeks time.

The interest from competitors is building - I'm expecting at least 50 people competing at this show. Great to see some big line-ups at recent events (82 at the NZFBB Sonny Schmidt Classic and 60+ at the INBA show last weekend)!

If you are within driving distance of Masterton, check this event out - the pre-judging starts at 11am and the finals at 5pm to give you travellers a bit more time to get to and from the event.

big waldos getting up there aye!

good shit bro!

Big...yeah right. This diet has taken it out of me...looking forward to a first show though. Before I left for Queenstown (here on work) I was about 81kg at 5-6%...thanks Alison Rainbow! I think judging by my height i have to come in at around 80kg.

Unfortunately the late working days here have stuffed the diet a little...not eating enough!

Diamond: See you up there!

Hi All,

Less than two weeks to go. It's great to see that there is a strong drive to make this show a good one!

My wife and I are competing in this show and we are both on track with our preparation. Since we are also one of the sponsors, we want to see it succeed as well. Is there anyone else out there planning on competing? If so, what section? And we hope that your prep is going well and you're on track.

I'm on track....apart from the flatulence.

here's a couple of back shots of me taken today , 6 days out from the show. Should be a lot leaner by the time the nats roll around in case i decide to do them ;)

Looking forward to the show, should be fun, hopefully the classic draws in a good number of competitors.

MasterTel - will there be door sales etc for this event?

Yes, Kiwi - there will be door sales. The seating capacity is approx 720, so I doubt very much that we will sell out.

Ticketek will be selling tickets to the event until approx 4:30pm next Friday - after that you can buy tickets at the Masterton Town Hall from about 10:15am Saturday (pre-judging starts at 11am).

Nice pics, Diamond! Hey, have you touched up those photos with felt pen - were you naked when the pics were taken? Hope you don't try that next week at the comp!! :pfft:

Just 3 days to go and judging from the enquiries from competitors and steady ticket sales, this will be a great show!

Over 80% of the tickets sold so far have been "combo" tickets - one ticket for each session at $35 for adults ($5 saving on buying them separately). I introduced this ticket type in 2005 to encourage more people to attend the pre-judging plus help out those who always come to both sessions.

So, if you want to see some quality muscle this weekend, head to the Masterton Town Hall for an 11am start (pre-judging) - finals start at 5pm. Then plenty of time to get to a bar to watch the All Blacks thump Portugal in the Rugby World Cup - 11pm kickoff.
