CityFitness bans posing!

Posers beware - your antics will not be tolerated at CityFitness! :-p

After an unfortunate "underwear incident", CityFitness has banned posing in front of the mirrors:

To be fair, I can see their point... sort of. I think taking off your shirt and hitching up the shorts to practice posing is perfectly fine if you do it out considerately - like in a group fitness room that's not being used. And most gyms are perfectly fine with that.

But occasionally there's the douche (usually some wannabe-pro) who strips off in the middle of the weights room. And that, I think, is a bit of a dick move. So if that's what CityFitness is trying to stamp out, then I have no problem with that.

What do you guys think? Is this a "togs, togs, togs, undies" situation?

Glad I'm not a member of this gym. They did the same thing with grunting and selfies not long ago.

It's just bad marketing for the gym. All they needed to do is talk to the offender and ban him if warranted.

I myself wouldn't give a crap if I saw someone in a group fitness room just in their undies. You can go to the pool and wear speedos there... they're just undies really. No difference. At the pools most girls wear wedged up bikinis these days anyway... I mean come on... a guy in undies posing - no big deal.

If he's out in the weights room and dropping his pants like he's Jay Cutler then that is a bit odd... but is it wrong? Just odd IMO...it would just be funny to watch. People get offended too easily.

There's too many silly rules in society... guys can't do this, girls can't do that, this colour is for guys that colour is for girls. You can do this here, but you can't do that there. No actual sense behind it at all. Just social norms that most are afraid to challenge.

Different story if he's posing in his undies and has a chub going on. But that's probably not the case judging by the article. It appears just to be a gym that's overly politically correct.

Considering what half the females train in these days it seems unrealistic to ban posing in your underwear.  What is the point of targeting bodybuilders to train in your gym if you can't pose in the mirror . I guess it's more of the Planet Fitness type buzz with City fitness now where anything intimidating is outlawed and you get a certificate just for participating. Target the people who will sign up for a year , go a couple of times a month and that's it.  This world is getting real messed up

so i just got back from the gym, asked a couple staff their opinion on it. they really didnt care and said if u like to pose keep doing what u doing no one gonna do shit unless u strip down to ur underwear. apparently only handful of old ladies been complaining about this and only in relation to the ones who take over the mirrors in group fitness area

Ive been at the gym and seen some guys posing in an "empty" studio and these Feme-nazi pigs moaned and kicked up a huge stink over it! they said they  felt "intimidated".....would have been simple enough just to walk past them? i mean who gives a rats arse? most go to the gym to train and couldn't give a shit about anyone else!...but to ban people from posing, wearing hats, making noise what next?

I think if a guy ever complained about another guy he's obviously insecure and feels threatened by a better body than his . I've seen plenty of guys posing in undies and just admired their muscle mass if anything. It's not even a thing that would cross my mind.  Why a woman would complain is beyond me though . Also can't see how somebody taking a selfie effects them . Grunting I can understand if it's extremely loud but again that's borderline. It seems people are getting to precious about things and gyms arent gyms anymore .

It's kind of dumb. I guess these gyms make so much money from the old lady crowd it pays to keep them happy. I do think there will be a shift though, and hopefully some gyms can go back to how they were. Probably dreaming though. Vote with your feet though guys. If you train at a bitch ass gym, find a new one!

I'd actually be suprized if anyone trainin actually complained. It's usually the owner who doesnt train or a manager who just thinks it's a bad thing that makes those kind of statements and rules. People who train don't usually care. Funny you can't wear something or do any posing. But you can smell like a bag of shit, leave your dbs and weights all over the place or just take up space doing f*ck all and that's OK. ..

was talking to a mate who manages a gym over here, 900+ members, he agreed with this rule from business perspective.

They make most of their money off "sleepers" - people that maintain a membership year round and never turn up. they cause no wear and tear on equipment and dont make the place look crowded (which puts off new members)

the next best are the 5am-8am and 5pm-7pm crowd. these are the people that come and walk on a treadmill for an hour

people actually lifting weights, making noise, taking up space, posing in front of mirrors, etc are the least valuable clients as they pay the same as a person that doesn't even turn up, but are visible and give the appearance that its busy, they also use equipment that wears out, adding to maintenance cost.

this is just one example and probably not the case at all gyms, but i see where hes coming from. he is a powerlifter too but will tell people to put weights down quietly, not to grunt, etc, because that kind of thing does intimidate the cash cow bulk of the members.

This reminds me of what my mum said: "I don't like being surrounded by all these big bulky men". Yeah mum, no one likes that. Just deal with it.
