NZ Fitness expo

Last time I went I stayed at the strongman event, said hi to the guys at Nutratech and that's it.

If you like Crossfit and Strongman and PL it's got that going for it, but everything else isn't that amazing. I think theres armwrestling too again.

I'd say it's a live sport event only.

Nah it's crap. Just a lot of dickheads walking around and you can't see the events unless you are in the front two rows of people.

you're probably right. pretty sure their big special guest is Joseph Rakich...I don't necessarily dislike the guy,

I just don't  see what's so exciting about an over glorified PT.

This was pretty much my experience also the one time I went. Saw few br0s from forum but apart from that pretty much waste of time and entry fee money.

I was thinking about going for the first time with the aim of scoring some free samples  ;)

Free samples are a possibility, but you may need to queue and/or register on a mailing list first.

Still... if you've never been, there are worse ways to spend a morning. :-)

Free samples were shit when I went there. Was like taste test a shot of preworkout or 1/8 cup of protein shake then have some pushy dickhead expect and try pressure you to buy the product based on that even though tasted like shit and did nothing or some non lifting "fitness" whore try get your email or to like their shit on fb so them and affiliated companies can spam you.

Did others on here actually get something of value?

Jetstar really aren't doing much to shake off that dodgy reputation of theirs, are they? Seems like it's quite well-earned.

Did anyone go? I heard good things about the NZ Muscle stand. How were the events?

Air NZ does the same I've had so many flights from Hamilton to Chch cancelled

The record breakers seemed a bit odd to me. Breaking records that will probably all be beat at Nationals in 6 weeks.

Also peaking twice in 6 weeks might be a bit tough but I know folks on here done comps back to back and improved.

From what it seemed to me- it was a comp organised by some of the NZPF lifters at Gillies ave as an invitational meet and exhibition of powerlifting rather than an all out 'record breakers' like 2 or so years ago. Of course some records were broken.

I think NZPF sanctioned the meet as part of the Expo to grow the sport and get people used to seeing powerlifting as a mainstream sport.

It built on last year's session of the NZPF Classic Champs which was part of the Expo, when all the best NZPF lifters were in Auckland.  Of course, this year Christchurch is where it's at!
