When to start going to the gym

Hi everyone.

Just wondering when I should start going to the gym or what and how much equipment to get before going to the gym. Im currently using a 50kg set (inherited) and resistance bands.

When have you guys and gals started and is normal to be intimidated by the gym?

Cheers

I used a home multi-gym machine for the first year I started training. Partly it was for convenience, partly it was to see if I liked this whole "gym" thing, and partly it was to work up the courage to go to a real gym.

To be honest, if I was doing it all again, I'd just go straight to the real gym now. Unless you invest serious amounts of coin, a home gym just can't compete.

A real gym will increase your possible exercises massively, and you'll see how other people train, and pick up new ideas and techniques, and be more motivated. Take the plunge, and join, bro. You won't regret it.

Well i've got nothing to lose and it looks like much to gain. I just hope I don't end up like a friend that goes to the gym for 2 hours but spend most of it flexing in the mirror haha.

Time to stop pussying out on the jabs aswell.

Best time to start is anytime :) and even if it's a return after a long time you feel intimidated a bit, (processing this myself) hahaha try not to focus on the other guys, focus on your work out, concentrate on form and squeezing the muscle you're working at the end of the movement, there will always be bigger or stronger guys/gals out there but don't get caught up in ego lifting. I started at 12 was scared to say the least but had big dreams, didn't know what most of the machines were, copied what I saw in magazines and asked for lots of help to get settled in. Every time I walk in to a new gym I feel the same way, till it becomes a sanctuary away from life stresses and bs then it's more like home
