Who reads all the posts by "powerlifters" and gets frustrated with all the questions and/or information and advice they give then when I get to the bottom of the post and find that they're benching like 90 squatting not much more etc etc

Or the "bodybuilders" who talk about these complex cycles and drug protocols yet weigh about 75k at 5'9 and can't grow cos no one told them the secret that only the pros seem to know.

I'm not talking about the guys out there posting who actually do the business, I'm talking about the other 98%

Now somehow we applaud their lame efforts. I mean we tell a 100k guy who's gassed to the eyeballs his 220k squat and 130k bench are an "awesome" effort. Or "yeah man you're peeled" at 70, that tren, mast, gh peptide cycle really kicked ass.

People paying coaches to teach them things if they weren't so fucking lazy they could just research and learn themselves. Over complicating simple processes and using "science" as reasoning. Gurus who did one comp. Every asshole lying about the stuff they actually do vs what they say they do. And oh my god the ass kissing. Let's all play nice with someone cos a)he's the president of the federation or b)he's my drug dealer or c)I'm a coward.... but behind that guys back there's so much shit talk. I live in aus and it's just the same shit here.

And on the flip side we bash anyone who does anything decent. Well OK maybe on this forum they only openly bash bodybuilders ha ha ha but you know what I mean.

Anyway that's my rant and yeah its probably only me...

i think credit is due for effort

some people train hard (relative term, everyone has different measures of "hard" ), do all the right shit, and just aren't that good (myself included when it comes to bench lol)  no point slamming them for factors outside of their control (lack of natural ability, genetics, training experience, etc)

i reckon nothing wrong with applauding someone if they are putting in the effort, even if you don't think their results are that great.. they're doing what they can.

on the flipside, i dont think there is any reason to bash someone that is doing well, that seems bizarre to me.

on the coaching bit, most people could coach themselves to some degree, but its whether they value the experience/knowledge a coach has over the money it costs to pay the coach is the question. I for one don't want to spend 3 months coaching myself to find out i would have done significantly better being coached by someone. not a money issue but a time issue. only so many years of training life left so need to be efficient with them.

cliffs:

unless someones a dickhead, they don't need to be bashed.

some encouragement/applause never hurt anyone, in fact it helps motivate (within reason, no point cheering on someone who needs some tough love if they are ever going to improve)

i dont think people think coach has some secret recipe, its just insurance against wasting time not progressing as much as you could/should (as long as you aren't paying a dud)

Yes but you're also from the "well done for trying" generation. I'm from the "you came last and your shit" generation. I'll applaud effort because that's deserved but I'm realistic about it. I suppose everyone is. I just don't get guys taking steroids to be mediocre or middle of the pack. If I was taking steroids and lifting numbers that average naturals do.. I'd be questioning my choices. BUT I say that with the knowledge that I don't have struggle street genetics.

As to needing coaching that's up in the air as far as I'm concerned. Some people need it some don't. However a lot of people who get coaches don't even understand the basics of the process they're undertaking or how and why the programming or protocol works. That's just lazy. Also I guess I question the level of coach...

Some days I'm really anti the whole industry for being a bunch of weak manipulative cocksucking dickheads ha ha ha other days not so much.

yeah fair enough.

i guess people take gear to more quickly stop being mediocre/leave the middle of the pack.

say you can become "good" in 5 years natty, or 3 years enhanced (hypothetical numbers), and you have 20 years left potential to reach a high level, 3 sounds better than 5

Actually this is a good argument. If you start taking steroids when you're already squatting 220 then your receptors and body are fresh and responsive. If you took steroids to get that squat weight then you're a bit burnt out and your body isn't going to be as responsive. So what you'll need to take vs what someone who was squatting that natural will differ as you both work toward 260. Chances are he gets 260 first cycle and chances are you struggle along a lot longer. So it's not the short cut people think it is. It's also why imo a whole lot of people don't achieve much in the gym. I can't tell you how many guys I see who take steroids and wear shirts that say cool things like "beast mode" and "if the bar ain't bending" blah blah blah I didn't realize beast mode meant looking like an undernourished teenage girl. So yeah ... food for thought on the whole short cut issue.
