A lot of people on social media who have "influence" will be sponsored athletes and their sponsors probably will not want to be a part of this/have their athletes promoting it.

That's probably true to a degree, but I'd like to think there will be some brands and sponsored athletes who are confident enough to back their products. Balance did, and for the industry's sake, you'd hope they're not the only ones who do! :-p

But yes... we'll be talking to nutritionists and others as well.

I would imagine most brands here have next to nil QC, do no batch testing, request no CoA's, and blindly trust their suppliers/distributors.

Their suppliers have QC.....

Suppliers aren't the issue, their product is tested to the Nth degree. I work in that industry trust me QC is of up most importance.

The middle man is where the issues arise..

exactly.

in nz case, and fonterra whey. fonterra have more to lose (think the baby powder scare a while back) than the guy who purchased a tiny tiny tiny fraction of fonterras whey and cuts it and adds flavouring and sells it. probably less than 1000th of a % of fonterras output (just a guess)

so makes sense that fonterra QC is going to be better than any supplement maker lol

What’s REALLY in your protein? We’ll do the lab analysis and blind taste tests to find out if your protein powder is legit.

We've got a lot of money to raise in a short time, and we need all the hands we can get. Here's how you can help...

Make a pledge now.

Or like/comment/tag/share our Facebook post. Better yet, do all the above.

Let's get this project happening! :-D

I know I'm new but I'm game for this. I know there's certain rules and regs that differ in different countries for example Canada can get away with being 40% short of what is stated on the label. I'll pledge next Friday.

Do you have any evidence to substantiate this claim? I looked into it and it seemed like their standards were much more stringent although possibly im missing something.

Unfortunately not. I heard it off a guy who owns a pretty large supplement company over here but I never went on to check it myself. It may just be hearsay but he's usually right.

Seriously?! I understand the need to allow for a margin of error, but that's insane!

Sorry apologies its 20% but even so that's a huge loss that as you can imagine a lot of companies will take advantage of to cut costs.

Has to be equal to or more than 80% declared on the label and fat has to be 120% or less than declared on the label.

Yeah bro thats what i saw. In some cases/countries i think they can often get around food standards by saying the product is a supplement not a food.

Couldn't find it , only this on the artificial sweeteners used. Do they actually kill your healthy stomach bacteria?

Harry do you think the owners of these companys are doing this with full knowledge or are they just trusting the manufactures that put these products together for them that everything is spot on and dont test anything or they just dont care?

Is this going to happen???

it can do if we flag the blind taste testing, flag the database, and instead just focus on the testing and someone to write up a brief document (say 1 page per brand tested with a breakdown, some images)

could be done for the cost of the tests + a couple hundred bucks document writing.

database can be excel

document can be pdf

only cost really is testing the products
