Starting FB Groups to use for Business Marketing

Anyone seen this happen?

 

You attempt to start a popular/viral Facebook group around some kind of uncontroversial topic (eg Kiwi Men, Kiwi's in Australia etc), then slowly begin using the group for free advertising for your business.

sometimes i think a legitimate topic/page is made then when it gets enough followers is sold to someone else that pumps it full of spam. 

check mike tysons athlete facebook for example, used to be run by him (or seemed like it), and now he posts junk click bait every day "you won't believe how i lost my belly fat in 6 easy steps"  and that kind of garbage
