Jimmybros gone vegan

My opinion is that it is a free for all. From the point of view of an animal, its dignity, value and worth will be greater than all others. It's simple self-preservation. From a third person perspective looking at the situation, say if you were observing the world from the outside, what does it matter which animal has more or less value, they're all a part of the system trying to survive.

We're definitely more complex and have features other animals don't yet. But does that give us more worth? It makes us more dangerous to other animals, or it could make us the guardian of this spaceship we live on called earth. It's our decision.

Had a long rant to go on but looks like we've reached exhaustion.

After studying environmental science and currently working in water science I have a good appreciation for unsustainable practices, but in the end I still eat meat out of habit, taste etc. though Im trying to restrict red meat. However the reality is meat production is one of the most resource intensive activities on earth, and a part of me feels guilty enough that grain and water that could feed all is used to feed animals to feed some. Im less worried morally about the animal than I am about humans, guess that says something about my love for cattle

Rant away! We can always split this into two different topics if people feel there's more to discuss about Jimmybro's vegan-ish diet.

See, I'm less worried morally about humans or cattle than I am about the planet. Maybe that says something about my love of humans!

But seriously, I think there are more than enough humans and cattle. Starving humans and mistreated cattle is far from ideal, but it's not the end of the world. Whereas a ruined planet literally is.

...I still eat meat though.

How hard is it for a true vegan to get their daily protein requirements? No meat, no dairy . Most protein powders are out of the question due to milk and or egg products. I see there is natural pea protein powder now but as far as food goes would the average athlete struggle to get the intake required?  Also what are the negatives if any to being a full vegan? Do they require supplemention of other things?  I've cut down on red meat lately but what I really need to sort is my sugar intake first. I think that will kill me before animal products

Should protein powders be out of the question in the first place?

I think this highlights the issue of veganism being treated a bit like a religion, rather than a rational method to reduce suffering of animals.

Jason Blaha says it is ok for a vegan to have whey protein, since the production of whey is either used as a animal feed ingredient or dumped into a river. Very little of it globally gets used in the production of protein powder.

So choosing not to have whey protein has no impact whatsoever on animal cruelty or sustainability, so might as well have it, right?

But this is where the cult mentality kicks in, and people will refuse to have whey simply based on it being an 'animal product' etc, not because it contributes to animal welfare in any way.

What do you guys reckon?

Haha knowing some humans, I cant fault anyone for thinking that!

Definitely agree with this. Population control is a controversial topic but is so relevant.

Yeah see your point on this one, to  non vegans it seems like an impractical boundary, guess they gotta draw the line somewhere though.

If people didn't eat cheese there would be no whey.

Consumption of whey won't affect production that much due to demand of cheese >> demand of whey.

But if that was to change whey consumption would be damaging (debatable).

Sorry bro, I cant believe you took that Vegan gains guys bait, meat doesn't cause heart disease bro, a rubbish diet full of trans fats and refined carbs over a extended period does. And have you seen Vegan gains, its likely he couldn't lift his boyfriend off him

Animal products contain trans fats.

Been a vegan for almost 6 months now.
LDL cholesterol is 1.7nmol/l

Heart disease has many causes. Omega 3/6 ratio, lack of b12, transfats, saturated fat, cholesterol, refined processed junk.

Haven't lost any performance. Have more energy.

TBH, I just want full blown erections, and that's what a vegan diet is best for, optimum blood flow. The correlation between heart disease and erectile dysfunction is very strong. The penis gets hit first because the arteries are smaller of that of the heart.

Also the main cause for degenerative discs  because nutrients can't diffuse from the arteries near your spine into the discs to keep them healthy because of  atherosclerosis.

Meat has a small amount of naturally occurring trans fats just like lots of other foods. Eggs. Whey probably does.
