So it looks like there are 2 forms of supplements in america the ones that are not even close to label claims and ones that put perscriptiion drugs in them or some crazy chemical, just when you thought other countrys didnt care about there people, i find this crazy even more crazy you can still buy all these supp and crazy still people still buy them even in nz. Good reason to buy nz made, or even better buy real food.

I'm not disagreeing with you Eddie, but what's the background here? Was there a specific case that triggered this post?

Merrica's screw in terms of food. So heavily produced and such poor quality.

Everyone's out to make a buck. There is plenty of background a simple google search will give back hundreds of court cases with regards to supplement manufacture in the states.

Even organic over there doesn't meet or term of organic. Many cases of people contracting food poisoning,  hepatitis etc. Even a few cases in NZ from exported "supplements" from you guessed in Merrica.

I believe "supplements" aren't regulated the way other foods are by the FDA.

America also produces far better quality supplements (those 'crazy' chemicals you speak of), and far cheaper / better food, because of their freedom. Here everyone is a darn libreel, except the act party.

I cannot, for the life of me, comprehend why people here think it is even remotley acceptable to even consider regulating the healthiness of foods dairys / fast food restraunts can serve you, the size of a soda, putting laws in place that restrict freedom of speech on the internet (hate speech laws), trying to ban cigarettes (racist agenda, google it).

My dad used to work in america, texas for the most part. If god (who I dont believe in, but liberals want to force everyone to be athiest) ever gives me the opportunity to live there in the future, I would certainly love to go. Unless the libreels take over texas too. Bernie sanders and whatnot.

Taking the piss right?

Have you visited America ? I wouldn't want to live there... In fact my visit to America was to see if I could live there as was looking at transfers at the time.

2 weeks annual leave a year, no company medical insurance in America etc. To get a week off work is considered a special situation as most employers won't let you take more than two days off in a row.

Bunch and brain washed people, they ones that travel abroad realize this. Its only a good place to live for the 1%ers (or perhaps 5%ers).

You realise most of the problems in america are caused by the libreels right? Im not saying that the republicans are perfect, but still.

In america, due to freedom, there is a large variety in the bonus benefits provided by employers, so that employers can be flexible and use bonuses as a form of incentive for the jobs they offer. Here in NZ, bonuses are 'rights' so employers are left in a unflexible situation, where everyone from a fast food worker to a banker is 'entitled' to the same length of paid leave etc.

This is why some jobs in america have shitty salaries, but for jobs that are very valuable / demanding, employers can use these bonuses like paid leave to attract more hard work.

As it should be.

For example, many companies in libreel states have gone bankrupt, and face high state taxes etc, but places like texas, where my dad worked, have freedom.

Take the high level of student debt for example. Studies have shown that the rise in tuition fee costs have increased almost in perfect correlation to the increase in government subsidies / affirmative action to help underprivleged kids get access to uni.

The only people who are 'brainwashed' are the people in sweden / uk etc who are what sam harris would call the "regressive left"

I don't think I've heard of the Libreels. Tell me more!

I have however heard of the Liberals. Surely isn't the same thing though?

LMAO!

You clearly do not know what regulation means... Supps are treated as food in the US whilst in NZ, AUS, Canada they are treated more like pharmaceuticals (but still not to the same extent)

Supps are so unregulated there that the FDA can't even inspect a manufacturing process without evidence that they are causing harm. This causes manufacturers to throw all kinds of unproven/unsafe ingredients into their proprietary blends. There isn't even a need to prove what is on the label is actually in the bottle.

When supps say builds 999.89x more muscle than protein it is usually followed by "These claims have not been evaluated by the fda"

So essentially the attitude from some (not all) US manufacturers is to chuck anything in that works (probs dbol lol), make claims to gullible consumers such as the GyzzBrahs of this world  and if it harms a few people along the way then they will get sued and stop making it.

Explain to me how this "freedom" equals better "far better quality supplements"? I'm intrigued how you reached that conclusion...

In this part of the world ingredients have to be proven safe, claims have to be substantiated by evidence, and amount of active ingredients per dose quantified before it ever makes it to the shelves.

I like his political commentary. It is amusing in its onesidedness and is just his perspective. It's the most interesting thing in this particular thread. The US has a different system for rating supplements than NZ does... yep.. and????

He's just getting into the why and seeing as those things are regulated by lawmakers and politicians I feel his input is valuable :)
