Strength levels during cutting

^ this. And even more realistically the main thing is going to be the duration over which it is done. The slower and more steady you do it the more/all of your strength you'll keep. The weaker you are the easier going to be kept too. If your 120kg and squatting 360kg then cutting to 100kg probably going to loose abit. If you only squat 120 well then it's very easy to keep it all.

My maintaince will be about 3000 on training days, training 4 days per week for 1 hour. I am 178cm, 115kg aiming for 65kg to 70kg aiming for 5 percent. Will remain in the 6 to 12 rep range, 2 working sets of 3 exercises per muscle per week aiming to maintain current strength records. Diet will be 4 days 1800cals and 1 day 3000cals then repeat. Or should i do more low calorie days?please post opinion. Will be doing 3 meals per day. Meal one will be oats, sultanas, trim milk, olive oil, protein shake. Meal two will be tuna, kumura. Meal three will be tuna, potatoes. Fat loss supplements will be carnitine tablets. Will probably keep creatine, vitamins, test booster, preworkout, bcaas. There will be no cardio. And obviously no gear. My goal is to complete cut in 9 to 12 months. Please feel free to post opinions. Will this approach be good to maintain all strength? Is 9 to 12 months achievable?

Sorry but that is a completely unrealistic goal.

You need to break it down into more solid realistic goals and targets along the way.

I would be aiming to hit 100kg in the next 4 months (1kg per week) then reassess and set new goal

1kg per week is a good goal. Shorter term goals mean you feel like you're constantly winning and dont get discouraged.

I lost 1kg a week for about 38 weeks straight and got stronger at same time (beginner gains)

couldn't agree more.so ......

-you want to lose 50kg.

-you want to be 5 % bodyfat.

-you want to keep your strength.

I don't like to sound like a pessimist but f*ck.these goals are so fucken stretched and far out they almost made me angry.

should've of just titled the topic as 'My dream physique' or explain in the OP that this is what you one day wish to achieve.fark sakes

But that's how anything starts - with a wild idea or "dream". Nothing wrong with that. It also doesn't mean it's not achievable. It's just the OP doesn't yet know enough to break the process down into more chunks with more manageable goals. But that's what we're here for.

Soundsgood's advice was spot on, I think.

yeah your right.I knew this in the first instance.just took  an opportunity  to rant. Not having the best day.Feel better now.

Heres some simple advice off the top of my head:

-eat clean eat a lot of greens

-drink 6-8L water everday day

-source most of your protein from white meat, eggs and whey

-eat complex carbs over simple or starchy

-be vigorous in your attempt to track everything from week to week

Start weight 121kg

Bench 50 x 1 maybe not even that.

Start going gym

38 weeks later in the low 80kgs. Bench 80. Not to mention i broke my leg during this period and had 6 weeks out of gym.

I got no reason to exagerate i dont think its an unusual result. From weak to less weak (still weak) and from fat to skinny

I don't think these goals are to far out. I'm guessing I'll be 5% after a 50kg fat drop. Ive lost weight very fast in the past but lost 30% of my strength but after saying that i was doing full body workouts not focusing on my strength. I would possible change more to intermittent fasting with 6 to 8 hour eating window with only two meals. This way I can eat way more and feel better and carb load more before workout because I think this is something that affects your workouts. Also I could drop low calorie days down to 1400.

I am about to go on a cut soon with about 50kg to lose to be ripped. Should I expect to lose any strength while dropping fat?

Hey,

Yes you will  and you have to give time to yourself atleast 1.5 years. I am giving you few tips so that you'll soon get a cut.

What you need to do if you’re losing Strength?

1. Don’t exceed a 25% daily deficit

2. Use the same intensity (weight on the bar) as before

3. Do just the amount of cardio you need to reach your goals

4. Eat the optimal amount of protein

5. Expect yourself to be strong in the gym

6. Cut back on volume if you’re not recovering properly

Reasons you may be losing muscle and their strength while cutting:
- Eating very little calories
- Not lifting the same heavy weights as before
- doing too much cardio
- Eating too little or too much protein

Consider these carefully and let me know after getting a cut.

+1 inhaled haterade fumes

It is great that you have ambitious goals and have good plan together. You think you have 50kgs of fat to loose, im guessing you are very obese and now you want to be 5%bodyfat?!?! your plan looks good but are going to stick to it?? This shit is hard, and the more fat you have to loose the harder its going to be.

The motivation and dedication required to achieve these goals you have, i doubt you have at present. My advice would be to get hired help, coaches and trainers will help keep on track during the initial stages of you transformation, where abouts do you live? perhaps a member could recommend a good trainer.

all the best man, hope you get some happiness out of this journey

Hey thanks for your input. I'm really not a big guy, I'm just average size with bit extra weight, I weigh the size of some of the biggest loser woman except way way smaller. I have havent trained in few years as i got some stuff to sort out first. I know what I'm capable of building and cutting wise but after saying that I've never had to lose 50kg before. I lost 20kg down to 8% in just a few weeks once and wasn't even serious about training or diet and was on the booze a lot. This will require a lot of dedication on the nutrition side but shouldn't be that hard as I don't eat like I used to probably due to teenage hormones lol but I must say it seems alot easier to stick to a diet the older i get, just more self control and don't crave food like i used to. I live oamaru Timaru area. Will most likely post a progress journal with photos etc.
