What expert articles should we write?

In the new year we'll be adding a new section for articles, written in plain English by local experts, and catering from beginners to advanced. There'll be subsections for powerlifting and bodybuilding and nutrition, etc, etc...

I've got a few ideas for powerlifting and nutrition topics, but bodybuilding is much less defined, and I'm struggling to carve it up into neatly packaged topics. So I thought I'd get your opinions.

What bodybuilding subjects should we cover, and who should we get to cover them?

Why just 'local experts'?

Because this is a local forum. If you want to read pieces by international guys who most people can't relate to then go to T-nation or the like. Those guys get paid to write those articles and often do it as part of there job, this forum can't afford to pay the rates those guys charge. Keeping it local gives the reader the added advantage of contacting the author a lot easier to ask questions within the thread or outside of it. With a high chance of a reply compared to 99/100 times being ignored by some dude who gets 300 messages a day from 70kg morons in America asking what tren ester they should use.

Yep. Given that we're a NZ-based community, it seems appropriate to use as much NZ talent as we can. For all the reasons Tom gives... but also it showcases the authors a bit, and gives them some local exposure, and I like the idea of that.

But they don't all have to be local necessarily. It's not an absolute hard-and-fast rule.

And in terms of "experts", I think that's relative to the level of the article. So an article aimed at beginners could probably be written by an experienced bodybuilder. Whereas for an article discussing the finer points of carb loading and water manipulation, we might need a guru of a higher order.

Also like to see some stickies from the experts on the forum who have been here for a long time, seems like a good way to give back to forum etc. Like either ask the guys to maybe write something up or sticky a previous post / thread by them.

Be good to see some stuff from Wookie, Daz, Realtalk etc from over the years. Like that might even be better, since a new person to the forum can see straight away that there are lots of expert active members on here, would probably be better than an expert that isnt from the forum that will never contribute again I guess.

Maybe have a mix of both I reckon.

Possibly a beginners guide to competing in bodybuilding . Off season training and nutrition and how come in to the show without having to resort to last minute excessive measures.  What to expect in your first show etc.   Training smartly while natty and not to get caught up in what they read in magazines. (Which pro uses what supplements, overkill on training a bodypart etc)  .

Maybe a 'what to expect' type guide for someone doing their first PL comp with a run through of general comp rules e.g. not being able to go down in weight on 2nd and 3rd attempts and the commands & what to bring to comp and such.

Be reasonably simple to write and could help out new lifters as well as other members so that no one is 'sick' on the day of the comp that they've said they were going to do?

Perhaps as happens in the training section... people who follow specific protocols of nutrition explaining their process and results and experience with those protocols. Whether it's paleo or iifym or if or whatever.

Oh and perhaps breaking carb loading and water depleting. Personal experience though rather than a cut and paste.
