Standing Desk

This place has been quiet lately so il just post some random shit that i was thinking about today

at my new job, there are a few people with "standing desks", they are an option here if you want one.

makes sense becuase you can pull a lever and lower it to a regular seated desk as well.

what kind of benefits would you get from standing in one place all day vs sitting? I feel as though hips for one would thank me for it..

im going to check whats involved in me getting one here because they encourage it (worksafe kind of thing, bad backs cause unproductive employee etc)

here is an example (thats not me thats someone in mexico i think)

Hips and posture probably the main benefits.

Burn more calories standing too instead of sitting, if you're inclined to count that as a positive lol.

Being able to swap between the two would be sick, as I'm on my feet all day at work and while it's dope cos I get to eat more, it definitely takes it out of you some days.

I'm a lazy c*nt though so would just put it down to seated and then laugh at all the fruit cups still standing

Stop your hip flexors from being shorten for one which is a massive benefit especially for yourself as your having hip issues.

Also back and posture and will consume more calories supporting yourself. Standing desk are a good idea. Just be sure to have equal pressure on both feet or can get an imbalance in the pelvic floor. Which will translate to muscle dysfunctions throughout your body.  The bitch in the photo is bad example of standing level.

Isnt it good for bodybuilders and powerlifter to have a seated job. Cos IMO they are the most useless whinging bitches when it come to standing up all day, especially if its physical.

If i could get paid same for doing something that let me be outside id do that (within reason im not saying id wanna do that forever just for a change). Not an option so best i can do is hustle my boss to let me travel to site as often as possible eg i get 2 weeks in PNG in late jan. Much rather that than sit on my ass.

So no

How many more calories would you burn by standing? Is it a significant amount, or just theoretical?

I wouldn't even bother considering it. What next counting calories for gear changes while driving..

walking different, but standing isn't walking. Sitting is fine, it's not sitting that's the problem it's bad posture. Sit properly. Get up for breaks and your sweet. Semantics.

I have one at work, it's pretty cool if you can stick to it, definitely notice a different a difference in posture, tightness in hams etc. Helped me fix up my anterior pelvic tilt.

It does take it out of you though, I get pretty tired when I'm using it. Also my feet get hot and sore. I end up spending 90% of my time at work with it in 'sit' mode for this reason.
