So um yeah, im quite ashamed of this as i dont want to cheat, BUT my budget hybrid, sumo seems to be overtaking conventional, it was only meant to be assistance, ive alway pulled conventional. im not sure i can do it in a comp tho, as i might get mocked for my form. Has this happened to anyone else lol?

No matter how much shit sumo or 'sumo-ish form' gets, it works better for some people than conventional. Be it due to mobility, strengths, weaknesses, tightness etc it happens.

I have seen plenty of people pull with that kinda form bro, even though I don't see the point in doing half one technique half another, it works for some.

The whole point of powerlifting, say in a deadlift, is to shift the maximum weight off the floor till you are standing completely upright and locked out. If this technique let's you use more weight then I think the answer is relatively self explanatory which technique you should use in comp.

Even if later on down the line as you build more upper back muscle and get tighter etc your conventional overtakes it again then swap back for comps.

Check out videos of rebecca gleich (ul thank me later) on YouTube or face book. Gpc girl from Melbourne. Lifts narrow stance sumo looks exactly like that and it goes well for her. Think she pulls round 3x body weight.

Also iv seen ed coan videos pulling like that for his sumos also.

Do what works best for you. I cant even get in sumo position comfortably

Good points guys, and If I actually do some mobility to be able to get in a better position, I might do ok with it. I seem to get stuck right at the top of the lockout on my conventional, glutes don't want to fir, but with the sumo, my glutes seem to come through much better. I might give it a good shot and see what happens
