Sorry to inform you the comp in Germany is not the Nabba Worlds, to be correct it is a federation called NAC and it is there universe.

 

also, it disappoints me you athletes are being lied to as the NABBA Universe is in England this weekend, not the Philippines.

this competition is created by Nabba nz and Nabba Philippines which have no affiliation with Nabba International.

 

do you compete to compete against the best or just to win?

the competition will be amateur at best and only NZ competitors competing against Philippine Athletes.

 

personally if i was competing and training myself to look the best, i would want to compete against the best, isn't that what we train for?

 

i feel bad for the people thinking they are competing at a universe competition thinking its real but unfortunately its not, and for the people already dieting for it, booked airfares with a possibility the show being cancelled as previously done so.

Okay since you asked, clearly there is a whole lot of angst between NABBA and NABBA/WFF and it is stupid but as always comes down to power and money in the end.

There is one organisation in United Kingdom "NABBA" it hosts the "NABBA Universe" in the United Kingdom and from what I understand only ever runs their Universe competition in the United Kingdom.

Then there is "NABBA International" which, yes, is hosting the NABBA International Universe in the Phillipines.

And yes you are right so long as the competitors have done their homework AS THEY SHOULD then they know what their choices are and are quite capable of making up their own minds.

Yes there is a "NABBA Worlds" but that is run at a different time of the year (around May)

For those that are interested and not mindless I was involved in the bodybuilding when "NABBA" was first introduced to New Zealand as an alternative federation to the then NZIFBB. It is not a fraud organisation and has been operating and successfully meeting the needs of New Zealand competitors in the 20 or so years since then.

I would pose this question to all those who emotively express their opinions over this, if NABBA is a fraud why has it not been shut down?, and if "NABBA International Universe" is not able to hold themselves out there why are they able to run the show! I would suggest this is nowhere near as simple as it may seem and the power plays behind the scenes are complex!

As a competitor I just want to get on with it and experince international competition and learn how to best prepare myself for international contests!

I wondered about this issue myself.

The best understanding I can come up with is....

Firstly, branding is enforced by the first entity to acquire the "brand" this would then be "NABBA UK" but clearly either one they have never wanted to enforce the branding and/or franchise and/or affliation on NABBA as they have not done so for the 20+ years that NABBA has been operating. OR there is some level of affliation that exists and NABBA UK are satisfied with this level.

I think the latter is the case, as NABBA continues to function as a consistent entity in NZ and NABBA International continues to provide the NABBA International Universe in the Asia Pacific region.

The bigger question is potentially how then does NABBA/WFF get to use the name as well?

I think that NABBA has traded for some 20+ years in NZ and has first comer rights and it no one is legally entitled to say they cannot trade under the "NABBA" name, so clearly they have the legal right!

Now "NABBA/WFF" has traded over a much more limited time span, in fact only incorporated in 2010 so why has NABBA not acted against NABBA/WFF? BECAUSE NABBA/WFF is owned by an overseas shareholder and this then brings into account international law issue. Now we all know that when we start dealing with lawyers money mounts up very quickly and I suspect that the only ones to suffer in this battle would be the competitors who ultimately would be short changed while NABBA had to pay the legal fees!!

SO now we get to the gist of it money, power, and overseas interests in NZ again!

Oh come on Jim Pitt has been around since 1990's by all reasoning this means that NABBA has been operating for longer than NABBA/WFF so who wins the right to be called REAL!

Affliation comes at differing levels I suspect but if there is any value to the word "AFFLIATION" then one organisation should be able to enforce their right over another and NABBA/WFF has not been able to close down NABBA, and actually does not even get better competitor numbers than NABBA.

What a retarded turn this has taken. It no longer matters which is the most valid. Truth is they both host international competitions and give opportunities to NZ bodybuilders to compete in them. It's like arguing about powerlifting federations. Who really cares?

Like Rebel I remember when all this crap first happened. One of the main promoters in this part of the world had a dispute with the guys who run it from the UK and branched off to do his own thing. All the NABBA organisation's in different countries took sides and Jim Pitt sided with Joe Lopez. Then a million years later a few people who were disgruntled at the nzfbb thought they'd align with NABBA WFF and... oh who cares lol

They are then forced to compete in categories they were not prepared for. And in particular in NZ Physique competitors excluded from overall recognition at Shows as "this is Graeme Lancefields position on the matter".

i understand you have been around and experienced both Feds.

you mention politics and Money, well I know for a fact that is why the Nabba/ Wff was introduced in NZ by the international Athletes that competed for Nabba NZ. they were also lead to believe they were going to overseas events that was Nabba but was not. Nabba NZ left the international organization (so yes, not a fraud back then, but now mislead as they no longer qualify or send athletes to the Nabba worlds or Universe) about ten years ago hence they no longer can qualify for overseas events, so they linked with NAC in Germany so competitors could compete internationally, Philippines was part of this break up.

with why its still going, well the cost of lawyers and expenses is not worth it as Nabba/wff put all there money back to the overseas athletes. there bank account is emptied every year. for Nabba NZ for them it is about money and who do they actually give back. the books became unforeseeable many years ago where yearly it was open for the committee members but now only for the President.

there is still NABBA physique for Women Internationally. but for WFF this is called Extreme where you have to hit a minimum weight to compete in this class. the lady who probably went did not hit the weight criteria so had compete in Figure.

I would be more impressed IF NABBA/WFF made an amalgamation with NABBA.

One more unified organisation putting the athletes first, strength comes from reconciling differences and moving forward not constantly bickering over what has happened in the past and putting athletes in the middle as pawns.

If had nothing to do with weight, just this terrible concept for females that one class fits all.

It's like the hen and the egg story which comes first! You will never build numbers in Physique classes when competitors are all forced into one class!

Germans will be holding on for NAC Universe in Hamburg on the 29th
