Liberal Milk?

Adressing this thread to the likes of riccardo etc, should be a good topic.

Gluten 'intolerance' and the like has been discussed quite a lot on here, and the general consensus seems to be that unless you have celiacs disease, its all psychological and bullshit trend.

However the percentage of the population which has gluten intolerance is very low, and so an answer like that makes perfect sense.

But with lactose intolerance, this affects the global population by a substantial amount, however individual countries have different variations etc.

I am in no way lactose intolerant or think myself to be. However, milk is a great source of protein and many of us, including myself, have this as part of the diet. While people like azide can slam several litres of milk a day, for someone like myself having a bit more than 400ml can make me feel a bit sick and im sure others feel the same.

So my question is, while percieved 'gluten intolerance' is bullshit and just about everyone can have carbs, many people who avoid gluten see something like coeliacs disease as an extreme, and mild 'gluten intolerance' as just a norm.

So in the case of milk, if we consider lactose intolerance to be the 'extreme' and general discomfort drinking milk to be the 'norm', does this have any scientific basis or is it also bullshit?

The difference is, with "gluten intolerance" there is no pathological process beyond something you might consider psychosomatic.

Lactose intolerance is from an actual lack of the enzyme lactase. I'm not sure if there are varying levels of lactose intolerance? I.e. Whether or not you can have some lactase but not as much as other indiciduals. Maybe the taste or something just doesn't agree with you? Maybe you're intolerant but don't exhibit strong symptoms? There are a few different scenarios that are possible but I can't say its something I've really looked into.

I believe so. My understanding is that some people produce more lactase than others. I think it's genetic. Europeans are quite accustomed to a high-dairy diet, produce more lactase, and so tend to tolerate lactose fairly well. Asians (and this is pure broscience, so take it with a pinch of salt) tend to eat less dairy, produce much less lactase, so have more problems digesting lactose.

You can buy supplements containing lactase and other digestive enzymes. Members here have tried them in the past, and say they were suddenly able to eat dairy with no problems.

Beer bonged 3L Full Milk once upon a time.

Felt bloated due to the sheer volume of liquid but this subsided within 5-10 minutes.

Won $100 bet cos everyone thought I would chunder. Wasn't even close.

Guess I handle dairy well lol.

Kinda related in the that could be possible to do with dairy, but is it true that you can basically make yourself have an intolerance to certain things like lactose etc by eating too much of it too often and your body starts to reject it/not absorb it as well ?

Someone spun me that yarn once when I was eating the same thing day in day out lol.

Unsure if bioscience orrr true ?

Humans became lactose tolerant by having too much of it so if anything it might be the opposite I feel.

So varying levels of enzymes would make sense then. Maccaz and Azide are both european as well.

No point in investing in enzymes since milk has too much sugar for me to have that much on a regular basis. Milk great for emergency protein lol, like when no more meat and cbf other things soooo

Indians are an outlier among other asian cultures. Some indian groups used to drink jugs of butter as food back in the day I heard.

you can definitely can an intolerance from eating the same thing over and over again but it uncommon.

As concerning Asian cultures, Asia is such a large continent you can't really use it for things like this as i would consider indians to be more similar to Europeans than Chinese if you look at from that angle.
