LOL. I know exactly the pose you mean! Legs apart, back arched so butt points skywards, looking seductively at the judges backwards over one shoulder. It really seems like it objectifies the contestants, and it enrages my inner feminist (which I never knew I had till this point). It just looks so sleezy!

Nope I agree . Cant stand that pose. It reminds me of baboons at the zoo showing those ugly pink butts of theirs. Puts me off.

Ironically and again when I used to compete this pose would almost guarantee you disqualification or at the very least a telling off. At every competitors briefing you would be told this pose would be unaccepted and not allowed in the routines or on stage... "Moon pose" they used to refer to it as.

Now it's the norm...

Bikini and men's physique were invented to make competition more popular and they did exactly that. The bar was lowered in terms of level of development and wham we see 100 times the number of competitors onstage. Great for promoters and awesome for the supplement companies and prep coaches and drug dealers :)

In the old days they had only a small hard core handful of people who were pretty well informed due to having to be... now they have a bunch of instant result retards to make money off.

If just different and that's not good I bad... it's just how it is.

Also to say that the modern crop of bikini or physique guys aren't mostly attention whores is just lying like am ads hole. If it was all about comps then we'd just see them at contest time.

I guess for old guys like me there's still the marginalized (even more) hard core bodybuilders who you literally do only see at comp time.

That's a really interesting thought. Wouldn't it be ironic if social media (which is so loved by the bodybuilding crowd) has actually spoilt bodybuilding?

Well it's spoilt the competition day imo. I think the Olympia has it right it builds hype but there is a difference I think. Someone prob gonna ask what the difference is and that is Olympia bbers 2 weeks out can look drastically different amatuer NZ bbers not so much. Olympia excites people no matter what they can afford to do it. I dunno just my opinion and how I feel about it.

Olympia have an instagram but its not spamming all day every day its more like little teasers to build the suspense which is cool i reckon, rather than like you say spamming out for months every competitor till you know exactly how its gonna look on the day

like little  snippets and shit kind of like movie trailer trolol but its cool rather than repetitive shit, they do it right

Highlighted the parts where you were hating because you dont seem to know what hating is. IE baseless comments generalising looks or generalising their motivation to compete.

I know you're just trolling most of the time but anyway :)

I have to generalise as i dont know any of their names offhand. I dont know them or follow them and have no interest in what theyre eating, who their sponsor is, the shit weights or excercises they claim to do in the gym or their gym selfies of their fake tits or arses or fake wall post messages of thanks to other ifbb 'somebodys' or moe.

Just going off what ive seen on fb because its popped up on my newsfeed because someone else on my friends list has commented on it or whatever.

If i saw one of these girls in the street i wouldn't even know she competed in bodybuilding. If I wanted to see some fake bitches in fake tan id just re-watch jersey shore lol.

Youre still planning on going for that NZIFBB pro card im guessing.

Haha yeah gotta agree with the guy above who has ok legs.. I have friends who do bikini like legit friends not just people I follow on insta and man some of them bust their fucking ass to get down to shredlevel body fat for comps, they're all pretty fucking hot too.

My friend was 8% last year for her show I think now for a girl thats the same as a guy at like 4-5? I could be slightly off, but she was fucking shredded.. OP if you know a girl doing MMA at 8% lasting more than 3 seconds before passing out from no energy I'd love to see her, the majority of fighters be it guys or girls will carry bodyfat for energy - not to mention less chance of seeing their fucking kidneys sticking out of their skin so you can poke it with your finger.

I'm skeptical she was 8% and if these bikini girls are soo lean then how are figure/ physique women even alive lol,

I don't have any problems with bikini athlete and I can remember when Moe brought in bikini class to the nzifbb . Thought that's cool with plus I can recall watching bikini class for the first time when I attend the nzifbb Auckland champs in 2010. I follow lots of bikini athletes on Instagram seeing what they eat for there eating plans including there training etc which is diffrent compare to my training and diet while I am cutting.nabba/wff have a bikini class which I watched before getting ready to go on stage last year when I did the pans.i can recall some of the athletes in that class were very hot including the ones that I saw at Nats as well.

I love it when people who have done nothing criticise people who are actually having a go at something. Saying every bikini competitor is an attention seeking whore is just stupid and is equivalent to those journalists who make out every death is because of steroids.

I have been to a million different bodybuilding shows and ummmm maybe in 2011 you could say a lot of the competitors would be beat by girls at mission bay but if you get out of your cave and go to a show I think you'll soon realise that the bikini class is actually competitive and the girls look great.

I am personally not a fan of bikini class, nor am I a fan of men's physique but that doesn't mean they don't look good and also doesn't mean they don't deserve respect for actually having a go and not being one of those Gus who take steroids and whatever else to be a key board warrior... Just saying.

Well I think we all like a bit of attention to a certain level. I share my workouts on here and IG. If I just wanted to log my workouts for myself I guess I wouldnt hashtag on IG or share it here at all , id just log on ig and have a private account . I dont think bodybuilding or powerlifting in itself is in any way done for attention unless you do it to pick up girls. I think more self confidence in my case but its good to know likeminded people are following you and liking what you do . Thats what its all about. I follow a lot of powerlifters , male, female both weak and strong and enjoy watching all their vids but I wouldnt find bikini stage vids or posing interesting. Just different strokes for different folks.

everyone who does bodybuilding is attention whore they just get on stage to seek others approvals and have muscles for showoff, its not even functional all they do is eat all day and use those steroid tablets for abs

What do you do? What sport or activity do you participate in? Who's approval do you seek with your working out and posting on a gym related page and keeping track of the things you do in regard to such? If you say you're not seeking anyone's approval then why can't a competitive bodybuilder say the same. Competitions are personal markers of progress. I'm extremely ego driven but I wouldn't say I'm an attention whore because essentially I don't give a f*ck what anyone else thinks about how I look or what I lift or how many steroids I take. I just care about what I do myself. I'd say that's the same for a lot of people :)

By 'done nothing' i assume you mean not competed in bodybuilding? Just because i dont compete in bodybuilding doesnt mean i sat round the house doing nothing my whole life. Just not a massive attention whore about it.

I said most, not all. I chose my wording carefully. Maybe you should read as carefully?

Not necessarily bodybuilding. But I mean you're on a weight lifting forum. So unless you've achieved anything you should probably hold off on insulting people who have or who have at least tried to

Did couple pl comps. Heres deadlift from last one. Youd do better though eh?

I dont think it matters if youve acheived anything or not in a lifting related sport to have an opinion on something like this or to know what attention whoring is. Why would it?

Im not a PL and I never will be. I wasn't having a go at anyone in particular I was saying if you haven't done anything apart from take steroids for a lifting journal on a New Zealand forum you shouldn't be a big mouth keyboard warrior about people who are giving it a go. Comments like bikini girls don't look good and there are better bodies at the beach is just dumb tbh and anyone who goes to comps would agree. Again im not a fan of bikini or men's physique for my own but that doesn't mean they don't look good. Because they do.

Dish it out? Did I insult you personally? I actually can cop as much criticism as you'd like to throw in my direction cos essentially I don't lift for your approval... :)

I make statements based on skim reading your posts. Sorry I didn't pay enough attention to cut and paste specifics...

well mate it basically all comes down to this 1 line and the hypocrisy behind it lol. it was not long ago i used to make fun of those aesthetic classes but it clicked that what goes around comes back around.

replace that with

"if you say you're not seeking anyones approval then why can't a competitive bikini model say the same"

what grinds my gears is fkloads of people out there say this same shit about bbers and plers, they say that we only try to lift heavy for attention, there is not much carryover to real life <insert desk job here> being able to bench x or squat y, having massive bicep not gonna make u strong for sport, that muscle/veins are not attractive or whatever, list goes on about women bodybuilders.. but we don't do it for attention of others, we just do it because we enjoy it. sometimes it seems no matter how much you say you don't do it for attention, people just don't get it. if you know that feel, why do you insist on applying that same BS logic to others?
