Hi all,

I have just signed up here.

I suppose you can say I am interested in bodybuilding for aesthetic purposes.

I am still experimenting with my workout regime but broadly speaking looking at a 3 cardio/5 weights split.

I am currently 185cm, 94kgs, 13%bf. Over time i want to drop my bf to below 10% and would like to increase muscle mass and tone.

I'd appreciate any advice any member have that they can pass on to me.

Cheers

fair point!

I have been training for around 12 months, weights and some cardio.

I am interested in training loads and training splits.

I am thinking something like shoulders & back, next day chest and arms, next day legs then repeat over again with a rest day thrown in. Looking to fit in 3 cardio sessions in the morning over the week.

I will look to add a couple of pics.

Anyway, does this sort of training load and split sound reasonable?

Thanks in advance

Welcome 07Guy,

Sounds like you want to do something like a push/pull/leg split? Layne Norton's PHAT program could be good too. There's no right or wrong training split, it's what works for you. imo training in a way that enjoy is pretty important, if you enjoy it you're more likely to keep doing it.

I'd recommend either of those two above as a good starting point or the split you have above. Choose your exercise selections and go from there. If it's too easy/hard adjust your volume (sets and reps) or intensity (weight) accordingly and try progress slowly.

You can progress by adding weight to the bar, increasing reps/sets reducing rest time or whatever you like. I think strength is a good progress indicator because you know if you are or aren't getting stronger. It's not always the case but stronger muscle = bigger muscle.

Hope this helps
