Jake Campus

I see Jake managed 2nd place in his pro debut at the Dennis James Classic and backed this up with another 2nd at the Sacremento Pro show.

Pretty impressive in my humble opinion, good to see Kiwis doing well internationally. Must get him pretty close to qualifying for the Olympia.

Question, Is mens physique different to bodybuilding by way of needing points? A top 2 finish in a bodybuilding pro show would qualify you automatically, or am I wrong?

So many pro competotors now and so many pro shows that they need a points system I'm guessing to have consistency with quality in the O stage. I would imagine many of the pro shows aren't very high quality or competitive. I don't actually know this because I don't follow it but it's a fair assumption.

2nd place is 2nd place nonetheless, so well done.

I understand If you win a show you automatically qualify for the Olympia. Fawad won the Auckland show so he went straight thru.

Then you get points for the next 5 placings.

Ie 2nd - 5 points

3rd - 4 points etc

I think they probably cap the Olympia competitors around 18?

Jake is currently has 10 points which is enough for now but just to be sure he will do one more show to grab a few extra points.

From what I've seen the nz pros like Sam, jake and Jeremy have the wide shoulder, small waist big arm look that has been awarded top spot at the big comps overseas. Some of the competitors look like light heavy weight bodybuilders in shorts.

Tight smaller guys like Fawad seem to do okay too

Nz has been blessed with an abundance of top pro physique who are truly competitive on the world stage something we haven't been able to acheive in bodybuilding for a while

I take my hat off to jake, he's been my training partner and close friend for many years now and can honestly say I've never met anyone who has been more single minded about achieving their dream on stage as he has. No offseasons jut calculated training, eating and rest for many years now. And it's all paid off

Well done

Agreed. For all everyone says that we create too many pros who then aren't competitive on the world stage, our physique guys seem to be doing all right!

I didn't realise the points system worked like that, Soundsgood - interesting! Your numbers are slightly different to Jake's though... Here's what he said on his Facebook page:

Placed 2nd at my debut show the Denis James classic which was a total buzz as a rookie I didn't expect that! Then placed a close second the week later against a different set of judges at the Colorado Mile High Pro.

That gives me 8 Olympia points, currently qualified but the points will change as its compete in up coming shows, so I have a plan in place to do one more show soon to secure that and make my dream come true this September and step on the Olympia stage.

So presuming he hadn't gained any points before then, it seems placing 2nd gives you 4 points, and maybe there's a points threshold needed to qualify for the Olympia?

Sorry I assumed top 6 got points like in bodybuilding but perhaps it's top 5

1st - automatic qualifier

2nd - 4 points

3rd - 3 points

Etc

Jake has said he has enough points to qualify him right now if there were no more qualifiers but some competitors may leapfrog him so I doubt there is a threshold just a 'automatic qualifiers then top points' system to get 18 competitors or whatever number they have chosen

Guess so. Theoretically you could get to the Olympia on nothing but 4th placings!

But in practise, I doubt that would happen. If Jake has placed 2nd in two Pro shows, and still needs another to be assured of enough points, I think anyone who only collects 4th places would have to do so many shows they'd earn their Olympia spot on the grounds of commitment and stamina. :D

Physique is here to stay, No need to have a go at Jake about it Harry.

His shape is what the IFBB are obviously looking for. If they wanted bigger lats then guys with bigger lats would be winning shows. Just under 100kg stage weight at a dexa scan of under 3% bodyfat is not exactly a small guy either

Jake looks amazing, 3 x deserved 2nd places at IFBB pro shows and an Olympia qualification.

Over the moon for him!

Having a go would be saying he's a dickhead. . I'm just saying my opinion of his physique. Didn't realize that wasn't what we did on here :)

Think there's confusion with this site and fb where if youre not figuratively sucking ifbb/instagram/fb athlete crew dick on it youre hater etc and whole crew comes at you tryna ram their opinions (metaphorical dicks) down your throat because they're bunch of faggots.

Not really related to SGs comment more just see this on fb all time. Most ppl will stick up for their actual mates though.
