T3 for strength

Recommended Posts

I was just wondering, was reading an article yesterday about t3.

T3 regulates the preference for which fiber type in polymorphic muscles (can change from type1-type2 etc)

it's the key regulator aside from environmental factors (exercise etc) the higher your t3 the more type2 fibers are expressed the lower your t3 the more type1 fibers are expressed.

When they mega dosed rats with T3 they were able to get type1 fibers in the calf muscle from 80% type1 to 16% after 4 weeks.

the rats were on 150mcg/day tho... which is around 45mg for a 100kg man

Interesting! The standard 200mcg dose wouldn't have much of an effect though?

its hard to tell, you could argue the mega dose was given for complete saturation also there is no reason why additional t3 wouldn't be linear. Also these are just signals or genes, so when that cell proliferates/differentiates or repairs  it's predisposition to what characteristics are going to be affected by t3.. this could be wrong this isn't my field.

It seems to me though there is definitely a connection between a higher metabolic rate and type2 fibers, likewise when t3 decreases type2 fibers are also negatively affected.

another interesting find from the literature is that after resistance exercise type llx fibers actually down-regulate to the slower type lla fibers but after a week of detraining return in greater number that prior to exercise. When I get some more reading time I'll look more into it.

Doesn't t3 kind of enhance the effects of your aas so to speak. So may result in getting stronger.

Research on weather it is bad for your thyroid or not I don't really care. I woukdnt mess with my thyroid for what would be a minuscule benefit to increasing strength.
