So you linked an article about a high school kid while talking about international rugby players.......

Drug testing doesn't only happen once or twice through out the year at the beginning of the season, any player can be subjected to a drug test at ANYTIME through out the year, during the rugby season or not. If you are a professional athlete this is the norm. Last year Johnathon Thurston kicked up a stink because the testing agency decided it would be smart to turn up at about 5-6 in the morning when they had a new born in the house. Athletes get randomly tested all the time, just because you don't hear about it, doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

I'm not saying no one uses, but please stop believing everyone that is bigger than you must be on something.

Well, I was never implying that everyone who is bigger than me is on gear, what made you get that picture? I was just simply stating that there is always a select few who are on drugs (If I never came across like that, then that's what I meant.) Did you read the link above that one?

While reading it I found this:

“Doping’s a threat to all sports and with widely available pharmaceuticals or with more sophisticated products coming out, we have to keep pace and work on new measures. We also have to drive through the right moral compass.”

If it's not banned, then they could still be taking new drugs that can enhance the body.

He's fought no bodies bro. All his opponents been older than him and shorter than him... Now that's probably not his fault. He should fight David haye who is apparently making a come back in 2015... In my opinion he just hasn't been tested yet and that's not because he is too good but because the opponents have been poor. I just fear that once he gets into the top 5 and fights even deontay wilder at 6'7 let along the klitchkos he will be shown up. Sparring with Klitschko will be good though pity there probably won't be footage of it.

Don't get me wrong I want him to suceed! I watch all of his fights... I'm just getting abit sick of paying $39.99 for fucking BS! That last one was an utter joke.

I suppose when you explain it like that. I got faith mate. Haha. Talking of sparring footage have you seen tua and Lenox sparring? Fuckin great.

Most of the problems are at itm level from guys coming in from club level who smoke abit of weed or are into the otc supplements. Steroids are hardly ever used. Nz rugby is big business we are talking 10s if not 100s of millions of dollars they can't afford to have a drug scandal.

no sbw not on gear...

But that argument works both ways .... soo much money involved means greater reward for those who make it, means more people willing to take the risk to cheat...

Skill more important than being big fast and strong... Gear in rugby only going to give u an extra couple of percent given that so much crosstraining involved. If was all about physical attributes then Fiji or Samoa would be world champs wouldnt they. Steroids do f*ck all if you're a shit player.

So no benefit from increased recovery time? And being big and strong are super important in union and league. What the Pacific island nations lack is proper training facilities and funding.

If you're shit your shit but if you have skills and then add drugs... then you're only gonna be better.

Allow elite athletes to take whatever ped's they want and just have there docs keep check.

But now if u 100m sprinter to qualify u must now run 8secs

Ride tour de france..extend some stages by xtra 20 kms..and shorten the cut off times for each stage or hill climb within a shorter time frame.

Some sports it wouldnt make sense..but imagine seeing juiced to the eyeball elite 100m sprinters just going for it.

Or pro golfers driving the ball over a half a kilometre accurately

I wonder if that kiwI free diver would of benefitted from a relevant ped?.

Baseball and NRL are worth billions! And those sports are juiced to the gills.

If your wanting the fam and money I think a lot of people would do anything they could to get there.

I think you might be surprised with the use. Look at Olympic athletes in a few decades I'm sure many will lose their placings to drug use. There is always away to get around testing, I don't think you could say any sport is truly drug free.

This is what I was trying to say. This how I wanted to convey the message. It's a pity that I had a stroke when I was young. I would be a lot more intelligent and brainier.

SBW is a top level league and rugby player, and a part time boxer. Boxing for him is to continue his profile/brand so he can make as much money as he can and to be fair they are doing a good job as many pay the money to watch him fight. You look at his under card, they are usually also league or rugby players - they are aiming at a different market to sell him as a product. They are more like celebrity matches.

He is a good boxer but I doubt you will see him fight anyone of real interest while he is still playing league or rugby. When he retires from rugby/league he "may" pull Shane Cameron out of retirement or someone like that as a big final pay day.

Joseph Parker IMO is trucking along quite nicely. They are pushing him quickly for the hope of a big pay day fight in the near future (may not be a title fight) and he will probably lose, but they see him as being young enough to learn from the loss and hopefully rebuild for a 2nd big pay day fight or maybe even a crack at the title when he's a bit older. Remember he has only recently turned 23yrs.

Sorry I might have derailed the thread a little in my last post.

To answer the question about PED use, I doubt it especially for the (rugby) international players. It is my understanding that they can be tested anytime/anywhere. Yes, the coaches, management team will be pushing the boundaries for substances that are not on the band list which probably will be included in time, but that will be all.

It will be inevitable that some players will get caught from time to time, just like all sports, but this will not be common.

USA dominated sports like NFL and Baseball have had pretty loose testing procedures in the past and still are in some ways but the governing body is being forced to start taking it more seriously. That is why we are starting to hear about it more.

Bro the question is where do YOU rank? Nowhere because your a nobody but he's 8 in wba. That means world whether it matters or not he's a fuckin great boxer(needs to be tested more) and your not. That's what matters champ.

Why is that the question...

Sorry bro, I didn't mean to hurt your feelings.

  • 1 month later...

I'm a whitey so don't have any experience with genes like Sonny Bill, but when he went to Japan for a season I remember seeing a photo of him training, the size and muscle striations he had seemed to me to be impossible to achieve without gear. But I'm not SBW, he's a 1 in 4 million.

An ex girlfriend of mine dated a Waikato Chiefs player. She said he was popping pills all day long, spilling them in the bathroom. I'm guessing they were amino acids. Be good to know exactly what a Super 15 player eats and uses as supplements. They seem to keep a lot of condition and strength on considering the amount of energy they burn.
