stimulants

Recommended Posts

For reasons I wont go in to, now and again, I end up with a poor nights  sleep.. And no, not my health..  My health is good.. Its an on going issue with no way around it at this stage..

The problem is the next day Im usually too tired to train properly or even care about training or diet. Some times a simple sugar free V in the morning is enough to get me to the gym. But some days I just feel like crawling back in to bed.  ..

So I started taking a stimulant.. Not much and only strictly first thing in the morning on days I feel I really really need it to get through the day. And it did solve my problem.. But I stopped because I  don't like who I deal with to get it or the reputation the shit has.

Some one said ephedrine is  way to go. A much cleaner drug. So I went to my doc, who said no, he had never heard it prescribed that way before and refused to prescribe it..
Funny enough he offered me duromine. Didn't think I was that fat lol..
I have tried duromine in the past and hate the shit. Cant sleep on it..

Ok, so now Im wondering if there is any other options I have missed...
If you were to take a stimulant, what would it be?

Getting ice again probably your best bet. What do you have to do to get it lol? Duramine fine for sleep if you take only one 30/40mg in morning. They available in lower doses too..like 15mg i think. But yeah you do sht like take 160mg then 120mg next day like i did then obv not going to sleep much for while. Worth it tho

Without understanding why you don't sleep, which seems to the cause of the problem, its difficult to ascribe a recommendation... You don't need stimulants, certainly not the ones I might be thinking of..

You need to address the sleep issue before thinking about stimulants...

A strong coffee would be the only thing I'd consider at this stage....

Stimulants = addiction...

I cant address the sleep issue. Apart from kicking a sick loved one out on to the street.  The issue is here and here to stay.  So addressing the lack of sleep is not a problem I can solve.. I have already stated this..

The issue is now getting through days when Im tired and just flagging the gym. Harden up? I also tried that..

Stimulants - addiction? .. Some people get addicted to alcohol. Some get addicted to gambling. Some addicted to drugs.. I'm lucky in that none of these things are possible for me. I know myself well enough to know this. And yes, I have messed with substances before. Can take them or leave them. In my youth I have experimented with my fair share.

.

All Im really after is which is best? I have been told ephedrine is the best to use but I have never come across it before.  If taken in the morning, in small quantity would it leave you wired and wide awake in the evenings?

Half life is 3-6 hours, so no..  if anything your metabolism would be elevated during the day so sleeping might be easier...

If taking on concurrent days there is a likelihood of effects being reduced over time, as with any receptor mediated drug therapy..

Not something your likely to find in NZ...

Not sure if this helps, but you can always get sleeping pills from the doctor, however you'll never get a big amount since some lead to addiction, when I came back from Bali I couldn't sleep till 5 am, I got given these pills that their name escape my mind, but gave you a metallic taste in the mouth if you left it there for too long and didn't swallow, they worked amazing, also had a friend over who snores like a chainsaw and on those pills I never heard the snoring or wokeup to it lol

thanks for that info... Very handy...  And definitely not going to be using on concurrent days... Intention is just once in a blue moon when really needed..

I do have sleeping pills..  They are so addictive got to be real careful with them though so limited use.. Also, when I got to get up to tend the patient (for want of a better word) I still got to get up.. Regardless of whether I have had a sleeping pill or not..  They do have their purpose but for me its limited.. Appreciate the advice though crazy..

Lol if it's a morning problem just go at the evenings or make time or whatever. It's not a situation that would warrant drug use imo.

Ritalin.

morning problem?.. sleep deprivation stays with you until you get enough sleep. No hiding from it by waiting for afternoon to come. If only it did work that way.. I could just wait until the afternoon and feel like a million dollars lol

Did you know having a good titoi before bed can help relax you and sleeping with a light on can help too.

1-3 dimethylamine might suit you, used to be in a lot of supps..

good stimulant, cranks adrenaline, notorious crash after (seems to last until your workout is over though). Given your circumstance the crash might be a great time to catch the rest of your sleep.

Hmm, don't like the sound of the crash part.. especially if its not bed time....  I can remember the old cold remedies.  One in particular.. Cant remember the name, but it had a day and night medicine. The day one had some sort of stimulant in it.. Not overly strong being a medicine, but it sure as hell made a difference from feeling like shit with a cold, or getting through the day ok.. If they could make it legal for cough medicine, why not make it legal to be given or even prescribed as a stimulant for those that want it.

And, it was just an over the counter medicine too..

Bro I'll give you the benefit of the doubt you weren't trying to be a smart ass.. Although having a good titoi, and sleeping with the light on? Really?

Any way, if you look at my original post, I don't ask for any help with trying to get to sleep. Its not what this thread is about.  So your info was pretty useless anyway.  Sorry dude, not trying to be a smart ass, just telling it like it is.

Now if you could offer some common sense info on stimulants I'd be all ears.

cheers.
