big thumbs up to everyone that gave the challenge a crack, real good to see so many different body shapes lifting,

have realised if i want to do this kind of challenge my typical bodybuilding  bench press wont cut it, need to learn to use legs and lats for this kind of lifting

Awesome lifting by Sarah and Ali! Couldn't match their reps but thought I would post my attempt none the less to represent the girls. Got 9 reps on my first try, and 10 reps about 30 mins later in this video. 62.4kg BW lifting 62.5kg

Shot Carli :)

So did we count Ravmans reps or nah?

No. Apart from the short reps issue, you also need to be a member, because the rules say you have to give your username (which is why I suggested he sign up and enter the comp properly).

Gymnation got me pinned.

Triceps were so dead at the end, managed to get one end on the rack then got stuck. Didn't want to drop it to the floor cause though it might bend the rack

Jeez, man! How did you get out? The video ends with you still pinned, and it feels like a TV cliffhanger - "Tune in next week to find out if Ryan survives..."

Last time you put a hole in your deck, this time you got truly pinned... are you sure you want to keep entering our competitions?! :D

Now... the winners! :D/

First of all, our last couple of spot prizes. Big Mac and S.Simpson, you've both won a box of Horleys Protein33 bars. Choose your flavour, and send me a PM with your address.

The men's winner of the Bench Your Bodyweight challenge is Justhell, with 34 reps - narrowly beating ELm0 and a few other contenders. Congratulations Justhell, you've won a 3kg bucket of any Horleys protein of your choice:

But this is the really exciting bit - the winner of the women's Bench Your Bodyweight challenge... is a DRAW! :D

S.Simpson sneaked in at the last minute to match Ali G's 16 reps. So that means we now extend the competition for them until we have a winner. It was going to be a 24-hour extension, but that seems a bit unreasonable given it's now 1am. So let's make the deadline 6pm on Tuesday.

If you can't beat the other person's reps, we'll judge it on time, and the fastest set will win. We'll start counting the time from the moment the weight drops for the first rep, to the lockout on the final rep.

Any questions? If not, good luck, and may the best girl win!

So let's make the deadline 6pm on Tuesday.

Oops, just realised I hadn't posted an update here.

Ali and Sarah have asked that we keep the result as a draw, as they're both carrying injuries and both have important competitions coming up (like the Commonwealth champs in Canada). That seemed like a pretty reasonable request, so they've split the prize between them.

I'm disappointed we won't see them battle it out though! I think as compensation they should instead keep a training journal here as they each prepare for their comps. :D

thanks for letting us call it a draw! both sarah and i are just as competitive as each other and know we would have given it out all, but with both dealing with injuries and comps on our doorsteps we are grateful for this result

love horley products, cool to share the prize with you sarah!

hmmm... dont think my training journal would be terribly interesting for anyone to read, but i am hoping for the best year ever with my lifting! have a great coach who is pushing me beyond my comfort zone... but so far so good so lets see where this takes me!

thanks so much for running this comp - have really enjoyed another challenge to push that little bit harder! congratulations to everyone who entered this challenge, we put ourselves out there and gave it our best shot - i'm keen to do this again next year just to see if i can beat my own score... by then sarah will absolutely be smashing me!

cool that tasha and carli were there representing the girls too... and showing that 'yes, girls can indeed benchpress their bodyweight'

....even old girls in their 50's
