Oh noes! Red meat = cancer!

For the first time, scientists have been able to demonstrate a link between too much red meat and cancer - although it still seems a bit tenuous to me... :P

Oh well, I guess the red meat cancer will just have to line up behind the summer sunshine cancer, the plastic food packaging cancer and the shampoo cancer.

That's kinda my thoughts...it's in some ways just scare-mongering.

The article says that this sugar (Neu5Gc) prompts an immune response, but goes no further. It doesn't look at what other conditions need to be present for the immune response to go all the way to cancer.

I guess maybe the original research describes what sorts of tumours, and thelr consequences... but for the Herald to leap from consumption to "causes cancer"... is unhelpful.  How much does the risk actually rise by - is it from 5% to 10%, or from 5% to 50%?

Theres plenty of evidence pointing that meat in general could give you cancer, point is who the f*ck really cares ay? If I wanna go beach cbf putting oily white shit all over my skin etc. Living = dying anyway. But if people like vegan stuff then good on them I guess.

From memory this study actually focused on processed red meat, and colorectal cancer, there's loads of studies that says the opposite with grass fed beef soooo yolo. Roll the dice, will beef kill me or will I kill beef? lel

I use sweeteners so I'm fucked anyway.

True most people have strong enough bodies to handle meat. Infact meat has nutrients and protein that's good for you whereas this stuff is just plain protein.

I wonder if it even has a full range of amino acids too?

Are you saying you've met someone whose body was not strong enough to digest animal protein?

Well yes 10000 years ago such people would have died from natural selection no doubt. But with modern lifestyle and all not so. It's just like having lactose intolerance and shit

don't know enough about it but there are people that cant have meat. Not sure wether protein issue or something else. Same with gluten intolerance quite rare probobly

I know of an infant who couldn't have dairy (shredded red blood cells I think).  That's a medically diagnosable condition.

Gluten intolerance doesn't exist - google 'nocebo effect'.  This has been proven.  Celiacs does exist, but that's a medically diagnosable condition.  It's real.

Anyway, believe what you want.  If you're saying that you cannot digest animal proteins then I'm sure some witches potion will counter these symptoms.
