What's the goal for 2015?

2015 seems to be a year for competitions. Everyone I talk to seems to be prepping for some big event.

So what are you working towards? Maybe it's a bodybuilding/powerlifting/crossfit event. Maybe it's a personal goal.

And, just as importantly, what have you achieved in 2014?

In 2014 I achieved getting fat :pfft:  But a good getting fat...I mean bulk.

Now its time to get skinny...errr lean. Starting point about 4kg heavier & 2-3% leaner than in 2013...game on!

Are you going to come back to powerlifting at some point Nate?

Hi guys & girls,

Re 2015 goals, I've been reading about the "body for life challenge" and thinking about a change in direction.

I'm an older lean  ;-)  (with a small growing puku :-( ) longtime distance runner, that has been carrying multiple niggly injuries for sometime; that I have since found out are due to my glutes having shutdown and becoming quad dominant, amongst other things.

I've been thinking about the skinny dude who got sand kicked in his face, then ........ you know the rest  :pfft:

I don't know if "body for life" would work for me, but there's only one way to find out.

I have an added challenge in that I had major rotator cuff surgery in September from which I spent 6 painful weeks in a sling and since have been working on re mobilising a frozen shoulder.

I currently have 95% ROM and are doing light rehab exercises.

So I suppose that's my introduction.

New Years day seems like a good day to start.

One of my biggest problems will be doing 20 minutes aerobic instead of 2 hours plus, (loved those long runs) but of course you are supposed to go pretty hard out on the body for life plan.

Rower & strider will be the machines of choice as my knee is still not 100% for running.

Bit of a cot case aye  :pfft:

Maybe I'll pluck up enough courage to post some before photos.

Night for now

Hey welcome, Lucky. Is it common for a runner to have inactive glutes? That really surprises me - I'd have thought they were one of the main driving muscles when running.

Definitely take some Before photos for yourself. You'll regret not being able to look back on them if you don't. Then having taken them, if you do pluck up the courage to post them in a journal here, we can provide feedback and encouragement.

As for my own achievements and goals... 2014 was a total non-event for me as far as training goes - in fact, I probably went backwards. But I'm going to count getting this new site live as an achievement (I have to, really - I did nothing else all year!)

This year I want to sit over 90kg at under 10% - and be able to maintain that. I'd be stoked to get back to 93-95kg, but that depends on how much muscle memory helps me out. Apart from the gym goals, I want to get Gymnation buzzing, and to work out a way of doing it that doesn't leave me too drained to achieve anything else.

Well like a shitty one for new/novice lifters probably...seen results from some and everyone competing real weak. Just go to it and do shit squat. .maybe like 140 then like 80kg bench then 90kg bench etc..pretend to struggle on first 2 lifts then tell them wana do 190 or some shitand pop caffeine pills or vit c right before it so ppl think roids and get mad..nail 190 3rd attempt. Same kind of thing on deads. Just make loaders mad.

Wana do proper push pull comp properly too as novice and beat fgts that normally win them here

Dunno anyone else got ideas to add?

Fukn lol. repped. But who was warm ups?

Goals for me

Squat 180

Bench 120

Deadlift 220

OHP 80

Stay lean as possible which will mean under 90kg. Some of those numbers might be a bit to ambitious but we will find out.
