Supplementation + Nutrition vs. Nutrition

Hi Everyone!

Supplementation + Nutrition vs. Nutrition

Supplementation combined with good nutrition specific to you makes gaining and sculpting far faster and easier to do. Protein Powder, BCAA, Creatine, Vitamins and additional's, they all have there part in making that physique that you have always wished for in accordance with a good nutritional diet and hitting your appropriate Macro's.

The real question I have to ask and get peoples opinions on is:

Could you sculpt your dream physique in the same time period just with great nutrition as fast as if you used supplementation and good nutrition?

Basically, I want to know which way is faster. The thoughts and opinions would be much appreciated and the pro's and cons short term and long term.

Cheers

Oliver Queen

Well you obviously need whey etc bc meat is gross, but other than that I wouldnt see a need for supplements at all really.

Meat is gross? Not sure if srs. Only reason I have whey is to flavour my oats cos otherwise they're bland as f*ck.

Unless by supplements you mean anabolic steroids then no, normal legal supplements are not going to help you get to your goal faster as long as you have a balanced diet.

So taking Supplements to won't speed the progress a long and a good nutrition is the best way to go?

If that's the case, why are supplements taken. Like it would seem like a massive waste of money.

It is. They are taken because people get scammed by advertising etc and the supplement industry plays them like suckers.

The rest of the supps are not needed, but you should get protein powder

Because

- gram for gram of protein, protein powder is cheaper than buying steak or chicken

- it's super convienient

- most people can't be fucked cooking and then eating the volumes required of real food

We live in the real world with jobs/study/family/travel/no money/etc and any form of time saving, and money savings is GOOD.

I don't think you can say categorically that supplements don't work, or that you can get the same results from diet alone. Particularly with the more basic supplements. Creatine, for example - hard to get enough of in the diet alone to make any noticeable difference, but as a supplement it can be effective.

From there, supplements seem to sit on a spectrum of decreasing results, and increasing hype. And at some point, you reach the supplements that definitely aren't worth taking, but there are many that sit in a grey area in the middle.

i have days where i didn't quite get to sort my meals out before leaving for work so i'm relying on some junk for carbs/fat and make up for lack of protein with shakes.

my current staples are : mulvi vits, creatine and vitamin d3. everything else is truly 'supplementary' ie. only use it to fill in parts of my diet which are lacking.

have tried BCAAs and found they do reduce DOMs but actual soreness (not injury pain) has never gotten in the way of my workouts anyway so I found no real benefit for the cost.

preworkout supplements not necessary, though when i find a bargain i get it as it is useful for days when you just feeling lacking of energy to hit up the gym

i think the key is to try not to rely on supplements but to learn how to eat properly instead. use the supplements to fill in gaps or to help reach your planned intake in a convenient manner

it's not necessary but it's optimal

some compounds are cost effective some aren't.

Take BA for example, everyone loves this because of the tingles but it showed about a 2% increase in performance over 3 months in clinical studies (5g day).

for me legal supps:

Creatine

Leucine

HMB (when overloading metabolic stress doesn't need to be HMB-FA)

Arachidonic acid

Phosphatidic acid

Multi

liver kidney (on gear)

anti-stress/anxiety (if under pressure, naturally stressed, overloading, etc )

stimulant

anti-stress/anxiety?

what do you take?

im prone but try avoid benzos etc etc cos rebound and dependency so just ignore it lol but if there is a non addictive supp that works for this i'd be interested.

I know melatonin works good 2hrs before bed so you sleep. Their around 2$ from usa I think, but for prescription their around 75$. Works a lot better than the bs sleep aid supplements you see around. Other than that idk?

i think if your diet is on point there is no need for protein supps

agree wit the creatine comment.

if you serous about bodybuilding then busy life is no excuse for not being organised with your food, i cook every four days and know i have to cook every four days so no excuses not to get right amounts in.

i think people are gullible and see a add with a huge guy saying this and that is what got them were they are but we all know its gear that got them were they are.

At the Gym facility that I Personal Train, Work for and train at...most guys use Supplements to get bigger because they think if they take the supplements they will naturally get bigger.

Once they find that they really haven't gotten any bigger, they think that they need more so they buy some more. Once they find it still hasn't worked they then look at the product and change and go through a variety of products.

Miss-look most nutrition and spend on average $500 - $1000 a year on Supplements with little progress because of education and lack of guidance.
