CNS Fatigue, For real?

Anyone here had CNS fatigue, or know ifs its real? 

 

I understand what it is from, overtraining, but can't really find anything i should be doing to overcome it (assuming i have it)

 

I've been doing a 5x5 training routine and might have pushed a bit too hard

Lol, you wouldn't question if your pushed it to hard or not if your got true signs of overtraining... 

 

Signs you are: 

  • Getting sick
  • Limbs and joint ache 
  • Insomnia 
  • Chronic fatigue

I think its pretty rare/unlikely someone is overtraining unless there are already massive stresses on the body like fighting an illness or sleep deprivation

you don't 'have it' it's not an illness or anything like that. Just another word for tierdness really. If your doing 5x5 your only really training 3 days a week so you'll be right. You know you have fatigue when you can no longer lift fk all despite you knowing you normally could I guess.

few years ago when i would push really big big volume and never take a rest I had a few cns blow outs where my body just start to shut down though out the day to the point of been huddle in a ball freezing, shaking and unable to move in a boling hot shower, normally would wake up next day pretty much normal, just listen to your body and play it smart a week off would do any harm

Are you in a position where you can eat more? What I've had twice is nowhere near as extreme as reddog's, but both times I was chronically under-eating. Keeping my calories up has so far worked - long may that continue.

Thanks all for the replies and help

 

I should have mentioned i got a bit eager and decided to break from only doing 3 workouts per week to 4 (doing Ice-cream 5x5 program) and i did this for a few weeks

 

Now the DOMS seems to stick around for days and i feel fatigued, not sleeping the best either. I've since reduced my WO's back to 3 days and put myself on a deload phase but recovery still isn't coming back that fast, thus why i wondered if there was anything else to do (extra multi?) or just take a week off?

 

Diets in check

325C 85F 300P (3400cal)  @95kg 23%

That's at the extreme end of the scale though. But surely it's not that black-and-white?

 

If you train beyond your recovery ability, isn't that over-training too? It may not be to the point where there are physical symptoms, but simply less-than-optimal training and fewer gains.
