405lb squat challenge

Leeroid

Recommended Posts

The challenge is simple. Load the barbell with 405 pounds which is roughly 182.5kgs and squat for max reps. Must hit powerlifting depth on every rep.

Quadzilla did 22 reps earlier this week. Brett Gibbs did 19 reps. Johnnie Candito (American U83kg powerlifter) did 13 reps.

I will be giving this a go tomorrow, I did 10 reps with 180kg back in June when I was coming back from a back injury. In December last year I've also done 180kg for 15 reps with knee wraps on.

Obviously this is a raw challenge so I will not be wearing knee wraps. Keen to see others give this a crack. Jimmybro, Phedder, M.T and other strong kients, I challenge you!

He makes squatting look effortless. Id be lucky to get 8 or 9 id say on a good day. Did sets of 5 not long ago at180 and I thought I was going to die. You'd be the closest at that weight Leeroid. Be interesting to see the bigger guys have a shot. Realtalk, Soundsgood , Wookie Wait is Quadzilla and Soundsgood the same person?

I didn't think this would turn into a proper challenge. Tempted to have another crack as I just kind of threw this set into my workout the other day 3 days after GPC nats, still hungover lol.  Pretty sure I should be good for 25+ if I was fresh

Anyway it is what it is - 22 reps at 180kg (405lb) @ 117.8kg Belt and loose kiwistrength sleeves

Wookie I'm gonna have a crack at the Tom Platz challenge this week Max reps with 500lb (227.5kg). Belt and wraps fine Keen to give it a go too?

Haha I've got no shot at the moment! I did a 10km trail run the other day if that tells you anything about my recent training, squatting has been mostly moderate front squats and volume/speed work for backs, and once a week at that.

My best was 6 reps after doing 9x3x180kg at the end of a smolov base. I'd honestly be stoked with 2-3 reps currently!
