bar hurts back when squatting(female)

So my gf has been squatting 6 weeks. Worked up to 50kg x 3, 60kgx 1

Got more in her but limited by the bar hurting on back.

Form looks okay but im no expert. Shoulders back to make the bit for the bar to sit on etc.

Is only option a pad? I reckon theyre awkward. Also was thinking mqybe get her to work on building upper back a bit to make more padding.

Any tips would be great, chur

Maybe take a really close look at bar positioning? Teach her some cue's that she could work on using just the bar, eg pulling scapula back, keeping everything tight etc. Since she noob it might be the case of her just forgetting cue's and loosineng up too much. I remember when I started I had the same problem.

i used to have the same problem, but just stopped being a bitch about it and just got used to it. Now it never hurts at all.

Sounds harsh, but that was reality for me.

lol same. when you add padding and not practice reinforcing best form, eventually that will start to hurt back too and then what? more padding? probalby still some work you can do on helping her keep it tight as well as sort out some rowing movements etc. to help develop / familiarise with control of that area.

sounds like a position problem, she should really be looking a bit up before unracking the barbell as that would make it easy to put the barbell on the traps

maybe wrapping a small towel around where the barbell is ?

BTW where is Sensai GymRat? Senpai GyzzBrah isn't returning my calls, texts, emails or facebook messages, not even myspace

Sorry, what is wrong with a small amount of padding? I realise it's not a particularly hardcore look, if that's what you're going for, but if it makes the bar more comfortable, why not? Surely it doesn't shift the weight distribution enough to make a difference?
