Brief run down - Iv always been big...not the kind of big normaly found on this forum - the 135kg big. over the last 2 years I lost 60kg's, got down to 75kgs...to be correct I got to 74.9kgs!. right time to chase that secret dream iv always had - body building. so hit the gym, eat like theres no tomorrow, things go well. So decide its time to look into this sore shoulder iv had for a long time, its holding me back. Find out yesterday that my right shoulder is the same as a worn out 60yo shoulder...im 40yo by the way. and my left shoulder is not that far behind. not sure yet what they are going to do, to young for a new shoulder they say, may go in and have a clean up. I asked the doctor dude...."after everything is done, whatever best solution you come up with....am I ever going to lift weights again ?" the answer was short but not sweet....."NO". With the pain iv had, I cant say it came as a suprize so was mentally kind of ready for it. But im not going to let it bet me - just have to change plans and go down a path that I know nothing about.

.....so I need to learn about cardio and fitness. im not a runner, infact at the moment I hate running, bloody usless ! I use to do quite a bit of MTBing, bike to and from work, 13km each way, walk the dog...thats about it.

So where to start...not to far from here is a small sports field that I can use. I was thinking ..... jog lenth of rugby field, 10 burpees....x 5. Is that going to do me any good as a starting point ? please remember this is all new for me so im thinking thats going to kill me ! if thats not where to start....then id love to hear ideas.

sorry for the big storry. just wanted to try and give as much info as I could.

40y/o

male

current weight 86.6kg and dropping (probaly should add there im not eating much at the moment so not huge amounts of energy just at the moment)

thanks very much for taking the time to read. im looking forward to hearing what ya'll have to say. Cheers, Papa Bear.

Biking to and from work is a great start. Especially as we're coming into the nicer weather.

If you live anywhere near a hill (thinking like One Tree Hill in AKL) then just walking up those bastards is a great work out for someone starting cardio - and you get the bonus of a great view at the top.
