apprently moe is going to give away a pro-card to a random in the audience

You should buy a ticket mate ... only chance you will ever get ;)

Pro game has changed gear in NZ in all feds - Physique/bikini classes are very credible now ... bodybuilding has improved quite a bit too.  Surprised there is still contempt for NZIFBB cards when Sam Mohummad who one the last one was hands down the best ametur competing on the card up until march.  Plenty of Pros = bigger audiences which is better for the sport.  Tony Doherty gives as many away in Oz but do they condemn him lol ...

It just dilutes the competition... Who is competing at this nationals in bodybuilding.... Mateo, garth and tufi... Wow strong line up it's just all the ppl who lost in years before... because the ones who beat them or would beat them are pros.

if all the pros who are going to do nothing in the pro circuit apart from make a mockery of themselves competed domestically in amatuer class then surely that would get more bums on seats...? Instead they sit in crowd or get up in jeans and no t shirt lol

we don't comment on tony d because we don't live in Australia and we don't follow that and know enough about it to qualify us to comment.

Optimas great to see u up on stage in excellent condition u looked great.

thanks :).. super pleased with how I looked this time around.   Have figured out how to maximise size and hardness without over dieting and losing too much in the hydration phase.  Chloe and Jade did a great job of the tan which added to my presentation.  Have had real issues with dream tan over the lat few comps.  Jantana the only tan to use now.  Show was huge and well run from my perspective - if there were delays it didnt feel like anything went a mis back stage.  Very pleased to have been up there.

Yeah, it was a really good comp. Over 160 competitors, with some absolute monsters on stage. The Teenage and Junior Men were just phenomenal.

It's a shame about the venue - the lighting was awful - but apparently the reason they held it here was simply the crowds they draw now were too many to fit in Sky City or the Bruce Mason Centre. So full credit to the NZIFBB. That's pretty impressive, really.

What did everyone think of the placings? Were they par for the course?

I heard there was quite a bit of dissection back stage after the Open Bikini Tall was announced, all a bit much really, people saying this one is going out with that one

I'd be surprised if there was no corruption at a nzifbb show.

Year in, year out they they have absolutely no shame in placing their fiends/acquaintances/f*ck buddies/neighbors tennis partners 2-3 higher places than they deserve. Even winning classes.

Then these people suck the judges cocks all over Facebook. The whole thing is just embarrassing.

To be fair, there's always going to be some disagreement about the judges decision in any sport that's not empirically measured. Maybe bodybuilding has more controversy than, say, syncronised swimming, but I definitely don't think it's unique to the NZIFBB.

I think in NZIFBB its just more severe and blatant to the point it actually frustrating even from my non-stakeholder postion. I thought bodybuilding was about presenting the best physique, guess not.

Yeah, it's certainly true that the NZIFBB does have a bit of a reputation for this. In this particular competition though, I wouldn't be too quick to judge the judges...

- There were a lot of classes that were extremely close - particularly the physique and bikini classes. I couldn't pick a winner, so it wouldn't surprise me if the judges' scores were equally split.

- It probably doesn't help that (in my very unexpert opinion) the hierarchy of judging criteria for these classes seems less clear than in the standard bodybuilding classes. So different interpretations are bound to happen.

- Finally, the lighting was terrible. There was an intensely bright spot in the centre of the stage which completely washed out the middle competitor, and on either side the other competitors were just about standing in the dark. It was all side lighting, with virtually no down lighting at all - and as any selfie photographer knows, down lighting is essential for showing off your abs.

I think even the most honest judges in the world would struggle under these circumstances.

Don't get me wrong - this is not one of those "cuddling up to the NZIFBB" Facebook posts. I criticise when it's deserved. But I also try to be fair.

Also, remember that NZIFBB competitors will also be looking at these photos and reading this page. I'd quite like a few of them to sign up here, and if all they see is a bunch of people hating on their federation, they're not likely to stick around for long. (I'm not saying we shouldn't discuss this, but I just wanted some positive stuff as well.)
