Too much protein?

Well yes there is such a thing but all depends on your diet over all. Proteins just like Fat and Carbohydrates all have some form of energey (calories) after all so even though they may be marketted as 'lean fat burning muscle building/toning' macronutrient, Protein is just like the other macros.

For someone trying to lose weight, instead of looking for things to add on your best approach would be to find out everything you can cut away first. That doesn't mean get rid of everything you enjoy but some good shortcuts are getting rid of ALL fizzy drinks, no more sugar with tea/coffee, no more sweets(chocolate, candy etc.). Get rid of those sugar cravings then head on to making sure every single meal is prepared by yourself. Doesn't have to be some fancy jamie oliver dish nor some crappy little meal. You can make yourself a nice fresh chicken burger with bread, avocados your favourite veges in there and get some baked/boiled kumara on the side it'll be delicious and filling... well that's just my example lol.

Other things you can do is find out what you eat every day and how many calories that totals. then you can subract a little at a time until you find a place where you are losing a little bit of weight every week.

Thanks. I was wondering as this person was going on about not losing any weight and I had read an article on eating too much protein turns it into glucose and wondered if this was why she wasn't losing weight but in saying that, I guess that would only be an issue if you were doing keto, otherwise glucose is energy huh.

This issue is not as simple as just looking at protein consumed, you also have to bring in consideration of fats and carbs consumed at the same time.

You also need to be aware of wether people are talking about the portion size of food or actual grams of protein, a lot of people say they eat 100g of protein when actually they have eaten 100 g of chicken which only actually yields about 24 g of protein.

Protein will only be metabolised through to glycogen when there is insufficient glucose available for glycogen production, it is not an efficient energy pathway.

Also just be aware people are notorious at counting their correct macro ie carbs, protein, and fat so what she thinks she is consuming may not be correct. Invariably if you are not losing fat it will be because the nutrition is not correct.
